Janet Jackson: Let's Wait Awhile Meaning
Song Released: 1987
Let's Wait Awhile Lyrics
-
The fifth single from Jackson's landmark album "Control", "Let's Wait Awhile" is a song that advocates for abstinence in sexual relationships.
In the song Jackson speaks to her partner "theres something I think that you should know, its not that I shouldn't really love you, lets take it slow." She further expresses her desires to abstain "when we get to know each other, and were both feeling much stronger, then lets try to talk it over, lets wait awhile longer."
In the bridge she sings, "save some for later so our love can be greater."
At the end of the song, Jackson sings "I promise I'll be worth the wait." Firmly assuring her lover that she will only act on her feelings when she feels that she is ready.
