   Hey i do not really think this song is about seasonal love or even about loneliness, no offense to anyone of you of course who is entitled to your own opinion, this is just my point of view.
   I think that this song is basically about a guy being unwilling to part with a girl, such that even though we knows that they cannot be together, he nonetheless wants them to be.
   
   Thus all the seasons are merely excuses that he made up for them to stay together- which is his very purpose from the start, cause he still loves her.
   
   Cause even for january where he says "We're frozen inside" it blatantly shows how he's merely finding whatever reason he can for them to be together, and not merely for the seasonal changes.
   
   I think its a really sweet, and meaningful love song of him expressing his feelings to a relationship he is unable to let go of.

   It's a song written from a facetious point of view. He was dumped in March and at a certain point the girl admitted she only stayed with him that long because she didn't wanna be alone during the holidays. Each passing holiday kept them together a few more weeks.

   Taken from a girls point of view, girls don't like to be alone, especially during the holidays. There is something about having a significant other that makes the holidays even more special. After March, you have spring break and summer flings and then it all starts all over again.
   
   Example: I know a guy who had a different girl at the end of every summer. The relationship lasted until just after Valentines day. All three girls ended the relationship. The guy for once, wanted a girl who wanted a more long term relationship and he got me :) Maybe John is looking for the same thing. He meets a girl he likes so much that he is willing to be with her even if it means losing her after the holiday seasons.

   I really think the song is about the time spent with someone. Talking about the holidays kind of shows time passing by. It just so happens that it ended around St. Patrick's Day.

   This song is really about loneliness. The point he is trying to get across is even if a relationship is not working people will stay together at least until the holidays are over to avoid being alone during the holiday season. 'If our always is all that we gave and we someday take that away I'll be alright if it was just 'til St. Patricks Day.' He is basically saying that even if we aren't meant to be together I will not be too lonely as long as we stay together until the holidays are over.

   When you show up to parties without a date, relatives and old friends inevitably point out that you're not getting any younger and isn't it time to find someone nice to settle down with? He wants to avoid all of this, so when his girlfriend wants to split up with him in November, he tries to reason with her "No way November will see our goodbye". You need a date for Christmas parties, and then there's Valentine's Day in February, then "we'll both be safe 'til St. Patrick's Day".
   
   He wants to hold off breaking up until it's safe to be single again.

   Mainly, I think this song is a seasonal love song. There are several holidays mentioned. The song most reminds me of Christmas, I think thats one of the main themes in the song. However, I don't quite know what personal experiences caused John to write the song the way he did. Thats' been my personal goal as to find out. If anyone knows anything I don't, please post or let me know.
