Brooklyn baby Lyrics

They say I'm too young to love you
I don't know what I need
They think I don't understand
The freedom land of the seventies
I think I'm too cool to know ya
You say I'm like the ice I freeze
I'm churning out novels like
Beat poetry on...

lana is in love with a guy much older than her, which leads people to judge her decisions in dating this older guy. However, she thinks it is completely normal and doesn't understand why she's being judged. By the second verse, things shift completely, "i think we're like fire and water, i think we're like the wind and sea, you're burning up im cooling down, you're up im down, you're blind i see." She starts to realize the reality of dating someone who is in a whole other stage of life, and her opinions on him shift as she loses feelings and gains anger for this man.

They say I'm too dumb to see
They judge me like a picture book

    She's annoyed.

Music is everywhere, but what goes on in these tunes is way more than great melodies. Some artists are straightforward, while others use lyrics with hidden messages. Everyone has that one song they thought meant something else, and it turned out to be completely different. Here are deep songs that you didn’t know have a deeper meaning

The image of being 'buried deep' is a clever image which hints at the idea of being both overlooked and overwhelmed by life, and this phrase nicely epitomises the song's meaning as a whole. But the song is much darker than this. Being already buried deep suggests being dead already: they are alive, but only in name.

as said by herself she was just reminiscing her days in Brooklyn with her boyfriend on S. 8th St. while he was playing his guitar and she was singing the songs.

it's telling a story of a girl who wants what the 70's had, specifically a boyfriend and that whole vibe.
She has a boyfriend who's a 70's style guy, the lyrics "You say I'm "too young to love me"" imply he's older which also may signify he might be a figment of her imagination but she's deeply in love with him.
This boy she has created is in a band, he's cool, she compares herself to him.
