Figure 0.9 Lyrics

Nothing ever stops all these thoughts
And the pain attached to them
Sometimes I wonder why this is happening
It's like nothing I can do
Will distract me when
I think of how I shot myself in the back again
'Cause from the infinite words I...

This song is quite simple to figure it out if you think of your childhood. Growing up there's always these kids who bully, and look at those bullies, and most of them were bullies. If your bullied when your younger, sometimes you'll grow up to be a bully yourself, and this song is the perfect example of that.

"Nothing ever stops all these thoughts
And the pain attached to them
Sometimes I wonder why this is happening"

This part starts to describe that something painful has happened to him.

"It's like nothing I can do
    Will distract me when
I think of how I shot myself in the back again"

Somehow he went against something he believed against.

"'Cause from the infinite words I could say
Put all the pain you gave to me on display
    But didn't realize
    Instead of setting it free
I took what I hated and made it part of me"

Listening to this is when I realized my interpretation of the song. He was bullied and of everything he could do or say he put his situation with his bully on display. But instead of using it to get rid of his memories and feeling better about it, he hurt other people in the same way hoping he would feel better. Therefore taking what he hated, cause nobody likes being bullied and made it a part of who he was by bullying others.

    [It never goes away]

    "Hearing your name
    The memories come back again
I remember when it started happening
I'd see you in every thought I had and then
The thoughts slowly found words attached to them
And I knew as they escaped away I was commited myself to them
And every day I regret those things
    'Cause now I see
That I took what I hated and made it a part of me"

This entire stanza is the same as the first stanza in its explination, it just shows it using different words. It saying the same thing that he was bullied and began using what he went through and bullied others.

    [It never goes away]

    "And now
You've become a part of me
    You'll always be right here
You've become a part of me
    You'll always be my fear
I can't seperate myself from what I've done
I've given up a part of me
    I've let myself become you"

The chorus basically is saying how the bully has become a part of him, and it was something he feared, "his greatest fear." He let himself become the bully by doing exactly what the bully had done to him.

    "Gimme my space back
    You gotta just go
Everything comes down to memories of you
I've kept it in but now I'm letting you know
    I've let you go
    Get away from me"

He finally realizes what he's doing wrong and he's changing his ways and letting go of these memories of his past.

That's how I interpret it as, and it makes a lot of sense. Obviously as most linkin park songs, different situations can relate to it. In a basic sense this song is about anyone that caused the writer pain and then the writer slowly found himself turning into the person who caused him pain.

I believe that his best friend may of betrayed him, and he couldn't get over it, so he sunk as low as his friend did, and he's angry that he let it degrade himself. Towards the end when he's yelling
    "Get away from me
    Gimme my space back
    You gotta just go
Everything comes down to memories of you"
He's speaking to the best friend who betrayed him and he wants the himself back and his best friend to disappear from his mind.

What I think is that the writer's talking about himself. It's about a part of himself that he hates. He badly wants this part to go away, get away from himself. Still, it stays with him...stays as a main influence in his life.

Chester was molested when he was like 7 and it went on till he was like 12 and was bullied in school I think its about a pattern abuse. He thought talking about it would release it from his memory instead it became a permanent part of him . So sad really .

This song, "Figure .09" is about a young man, 14-15, who has been broken up with his beloved girlfriend. He realizes that he regrets splitting, and thinking of her and the memories is painful. [nothing ever stops all these thoughts and the pain attached to them] But later realizes he's given everything to her, and has nothing left. He then starts noticing he's taking everything she owns, [I took what I hated and made it a part of me]He also sees that he can't get rid of her, and she's a part of him. [you've become a part of me] He fears her ever hurting him again, in the process. [youll always be my fear]. It's about a boy who cant get over his ex.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

I agree with the interpretation that said this song is about a mental illness.i myself suffer from severe social anxiety disorder and i have this fear of talking and interacting with other people..the fear of been judged, rejected or humiliated..i remember it started happening when i was 7 or 8 years old child and this anxiety became a part of me..i became more like anxiety and less like me..anxiety controls my life..i hate it when people say i'm a mute or a insecure person..but i took what i hated and made it a part of me and even if i try it never goes away..if i didn't have this mental disorder i could have been a more different/successful person..so this song make a perfect sense to me..Linkin Park has so deep meaningful lyrics..When other artists sing about same love/break up themes in their songs Linkin park sing about the the struggles in life which fans can related to..They are truly amazing inspirational artists..

This song is about when someone, most likely someone abusive; a parent, friend, lover, affects you or traumatizes you so badly that you don't know how to cope with any of it and the pain changes you. A lot of people who have been abused become the abuser at some point in their life. He has begun to hurt himself, the way someone had hurt him and he's maybe even hurting others. He feels as if he has become that person.

I'm not goin to go into much detail as its after 4am now and I've just downloaded over 40 linkin park tracks after hearing figure 0.9 on SWAT the movie...

Basically I think the song is about killing someone and how it would haunt the person for the rest of his life!

Then I kept listenin to it and now I think its about a bad break up with his partner..

I can't decide which interpretation I think is the real meaning I just think the track is awesome!! Keep it up LP :)

It sounds like this song may relate to a mental health issue such as Depersonalization or Derealization.

    (And now)
(You've become a part of me)
    (You'll always be right here)
(You've become a part of me)
    (You'll always be my fear)
    (I can't separate)
    (Myself from what I've done)
(Giving up a part of me)
    (I've let myself become you)

It seems he is saying that he is scared of the way he feels because he doesn't feel like himself. He can't separate from how he feels because the feelings have become him.

I think the song is about having to deal with someone that annoys or attacks you in any way, and their attacking personality is building up the want for a violent retaliation. A sort of thoughts become words, words become actions story.

Where do I start? Linkin park has songs that you can eaisly put yourself into. Now my story...

I'm that Honor student and my parents tried to push me to the right deriction as the made me be a scientist. One day I completley snapped at my parents wich resulted in a 3 day argument that resulted in me running away untill the found me a week later and forced me home. Now my dad hasnt forgivin me since but my mom has.

    (Get away from ME!)
    Give me my space back
    You’ve gotta just
    (GO!)
Everything comes down to memories of
    (YOU!)
I've kept it in but now I’m letting you
    (KNOW!)
    I've let you go!
    So
    (get away from ME!)
    Give me my space back
    You've gotta just
    (GO!)
Everything comes down to memories of
    (YOU!)
I've kept it in but now I’m letting you
    (KNOW!)
    I've let you go!

    And now
You've become a part of me
    You'll always be right here
You've become a part of me
    You'll always be my fear
    I can't separate
    Myself from what I've done
Giving up a part of me
    I've let myself become you
    I've let myself become you
I've let myself become lost inside these thoughts of you
Giving up a part of me
    I've let myself become you

The end describes exactly how i feel about this mess. Slowy ive become more and more like him. Losing some of me I became him.Now recovering from this transformatio im finding myself again. But this is my interpretation find yours!

It's about someone he hates like a bully or maybe even abusive parents pick on him and it gets to him so he starts to defend himself from everyone and then realizes in trying to defend himself he became what he was defending himself from.

I think this song is about someone who broke up with his girl/boyfriend because they just wouldn't fit, and struggled dealing with that. After he managed to partially deal with it, his ex sometimes goes just that little bit further than just being friends. Even though he knows he should ignore it and go on, he starts to hope they will get back together. after that he realizes that they will not get back together and he falls in pain. This keeps repeating and he keeps falling. His good memories now turn to bad ones, and he blames himself for falling for the trap of hoping. He asks his ex to stop acting like that and leave him alone.

Couldn't it be that the writer recognized that himself get changed by someone? Slowly and in a unknown process... With the words

"I think of how I shot myself in the back again"

the writer is giving us a look into his feelings, the pain inside of him. The thought about how he could shot himself in the back again... Maybe the person changed him durably become a part of him while dealing all this feelings...

The chorus is telling us the main thought, maybe the words everyone could think in a special situation.

    "And now
You've become a part of me
    You'll always be right here
You've become a part of me
    You'll always be my fear
    I can't separate
    Myself from what I've done
Giving up a part of me
    I've let myself become you"

He's giving up a part of himself and he could be shamed by becoming someone, something else...

    And when he says

"I took what I've hated and made it a part of me"

It's not only the thing he hated, it's the thing he feared. 'Cause I can tell you... When I was young I got ignored by everyone, till I changed myself when I become like these people. I got respected when I was dealing the same things I had to suffer by. And I really hated myself for this. So he gives what he feared to other people, so the thing he hated becomes a part of him.
