OMG, the origins of
Tutti frutti, au-rutti
Bop bopa-a-lu bop a whop bam boo
"No, this wasn't Cole Porter. (Though Cole might have enjoyed the original version of the lyric, which was supposedly 'Tutti frutti, good booty,' Little Richard's homage to gay sex, and contained the line 'If it don't fit, don't force it.') But then, these songs weren't meant for playing on the piano in the parlor; they were for dancing or making love, and the beat, not the lyrics, was the essence of the song.
