First of all Harry has admitted to smoking weed before, so… stop saying he never smokes
Second. El smokes cigarettes, 9 times outta 10 you smoke them by yourself. While weed on the other hand you do with someone else (aka Louis)
Louis official lyrics say ‘to smoke’ but if you listen it sounds much more like THE smoke, which is another name for London. That’s where Eleanor lives, wouldn’t she move if she hated it so much?
To me that line, this song, almost the entire album (except for Two of Us obviously) screams Larry -

1. There is debate on the Amsterdam line because he said that he wrote the song before he went with Eleanor, so you can interpret that how you want, he could be lying to cover up. Maybe not though.
2. The original lyrics are “I know you hate THE smoke without me” and the smoke is a nickname for London, which could be referencing how Harry doesn’t like to be in London without Louis.
3. We all know that home is a frequently mentioned analogy with Harry and Lou in their songs. And the lyrics “Walked through my door but it felt nothing like home, ‘Cause you’re not home” could be referencing something. It could be saying that it doesn’t feel like home because Eleanor isn’t home to him, or it could be saying that it doesn’t feel like home because Harry isn’t there, those are the two ways that I interpreted it.
4. And come on, if you really think about and listen to the lyrics it is pretty obviously about Harry, as are other songs in the album. -

#3 top rated interpretation:Another line is “I went from LAX to Heathrow,” and Harry lives in LA, Louis says it doesn’t feel like home in London, maybe because he left Harry behind in LA. Lowkey the whole album sounds like it’s meant for Harry, but that’s just my opinion.

Just to add to everyone else rather than rehash. I’m late to the table. Never knew 1D and just found Louis and the rest of them in February 2023. Two observations
1. Lax to Heathrow. Just speaks volumes of both Harry and Louis lifestyle and 2. the other line was that he went to Tokeyo. I think it was a nod to Harry as it seems like Japan is very special to him. If it’s El I don’t think Tokeyo would be in the lyrics -
i do not think that this is for eleanor. because there’s a lyrics that goes, “chasin’ a high, but it was always you, always you, should’ve never let you go” louis never let go of eleanor, so he couldn’t be referring to her. whether of not this is for hazz, this is for hazz. LMAO BYE

I've seen lotso interpretations here saying it's about Eleanor because of the "i know you hate to smoke without me" but the original lyrics are "i know you hate THE smoke without me". The Smoke is a way of referring to London due to the smog covering the city and stuff. So what he probably meant by the lyrics was that he knew Harry hated London without Louis.

i have been reading these theories and i agree with pretty much all of them. I am not exactly a larrie per say. I'm just the person that supports them no matter who they are with. But as of right now Louis is with Eleanor and if you really do support him. You should be happy for him on his relationships no matter who he is with. I think the song, depends if you are a larrie or not could either be about Eleanor or Harry. Harry doesn't smoke as far as i know. And El has smoked before. The amsterdam line could be when they went there on tour with 1D and Eleanor wasn't there or it could be when he went with Eleanor. It really depends on what you believe. But please don't hate on Eleanor, i know she has done some bad stuff and i am not defending her from that but the constant hate can't be good for a person. i don't know if anyone is still reading this but if you are please consider not hating on her constantly and i am aware that some don't hate on her every much but there are some that do. So please consider that. Thank you

Ok so I have read a lot of the different interpretations and most of them say they're about Harry. I did also read the ones about Eleanor to be fair. I am a dark Larry so I do believe the song is about Harry, here's why.
1.) "I went to Amsterdam without you and all I could do was think about you." Lou did go to Amsterdam with Eleanor. He did say the song was written before they went, but you never know. I'm not going to make a bunch of theories here...
2.) Harry indeed DOES smoke as he has admitted it in interviews. Just because Eleanor might've smoked once doesn't mean that line is about her. Then again, we don't know for sure that it is about Harry.
You guys have been saying a lot of things that make sense for Haz, and things that would make sense for Eleanor. Tbh, I'm not completely sure if they are dating or not! And of course, there is the whole Harry and Olivia dating thing going on. If Larry isn't real now, it was at some point.
I'm 80% sure this song is about Harry! Don't hate guys- this is just my opinion. Have a good day :)

❤ It's about Harry... I have no doubt... Because when he says "I know you hate to smoke without me" (people who are talking about cigarettes don't ever wait for someone to smoke with) but POT yes.. People love to smoke pot together... Harry in many interviews and playing truth or dare on tv talk shows alludes to that he DOES LIKE POT... he always smirks when they ask him... I believe it's POT that Louis is talking about that HARRY only liked doing with him... Trust Me... This song IS about Harry ❤

Guys i'm a larry but louis went to amsterdam whith eleanor AFTER he wrote the song! and harry doesn't smoke so i don't think it's about harry. I'm so desperate now because I really want that it's about harry...

I am not quite sure who, 'Always You' is about. So these are my two opinions:
1.) About Harry:
The thing is, he mentioned in an interview, 'I recently went on holiday in Amsterdam, with Eleanor my girlfriend.' And the first lyrics of the song go, 'I went to Amsterdam without you'...
2.) About Eleanor:
Louis went on tour with the rest of the boys of One Direction, to Amsterdam. Another lyric is, 'I know you hate to smoke without me', and Harry does not smoke. He has asthma. I have done some research and found out that Eleanor has smoked before.
There are a lot of rumours going around that Louis and Eleanor broke up. Eleanor is back with Max, THE L TATTOO ON HER HAND IS GONE, she started untagging Louis from her photos, and unarchiving pictures with her ex, Max. I am indeed a Larry shipper, so whether or not 'Always You' is about Eleanor. I don't think it is always her... BUT, 'Too Young' is definitely about Harry. -
I’m not a crazy blue greener, but I do think this is about Harry, there is so much proof it is about him. Louis went to Amsterdam with Eleanor (who doesn’t deserve hate btw please be nice to her!) after he went with Harry many times while on tour with 1d. Also, while I understand Larry did hurt Louis and Harry’s friendship, I do just want the boys to all be happy, and they seemed happiest together. No hate towards any of their girlfriends, I’m sure they are all great people. Anyway, I think Always You is about Hazza
