In My Daugher's Eyes Lyrics

I think it is a song about a mother seeing her daughter is a beautiful gift and cherishes that. I don’t think it depicts an unhealthy relationship of a mom placing rescuing on the kid. I’m a mom and my son is the most important person in my life and he is his own person and I’m mine, but I find fulfillment as his mom and this identity as another side of me.

This song expresses a mothers strong feeling about her identity as a mother. She finds strength in her daughter’s admiration of her. The mother draws on the daughter for emotional fulfillment which depicts an unhealthy role reversal. A child needs to be reflected by their parent to understand their identity but the mother in the song instead wants to be rescued by her child. So while emotionally appealing this song does not depict an ideal relationship.

The song is telling that there is no judging or discrimination in her daughter's eyes. She can see the meaning of life and never giving up on what she wants to accomplish. She feels her daughter was sent to her to help her to get to where she wants to be and that she is always looked up to by her daughter and she is her strong stable rock in her life.
