Mayday Parade: Jamie All Over Meaning

Album cover for Jamie All Over album cover

Jamie All Over Lyrics

I had a dream last night we
Drove out to see Las Vegas
We lost ourselves in the bright lights
I wish you could have seen us

Begging for change to get home
Or at least San Francisco
Let's put a ten on the high card
And spend a summer on the west...

"Jamie All Over" creates a flawless image of a perfect summer. I think it depicts ex-band member Jason Lancaster and the girl he loves on a spontaneous road trip through Vegas and various other cities on the West Coast. The girl points at a random place on a map, and they go there. They finally end up on the Coast of the Pacific Ocean ("take this Cali sunrise with me"; be California's best") Jason is dreaming throughout the whole song, obviously. Jason says he doesn't want to go back to Georgia (MP is from Florida..?) A very cute carefree love song that deserves to be listened to over and over. :)It's really sad, though, that this song is what made Jason Lancaster leave the band. He claimed lead singer Derek Sanders didn't give him enough credit for writing this song, and taking part in writing others. so sad...Derek now sings "Jamie All Over" in Jason's place whenever MP performs that song. Jason's voice blended very well with Derek's, and MP will never be as good as they were. Still love them though!
Jason is now the lead singer for Go Radio.
