Birthing Addicts Lyrics

Pupils begin to observe
Watching the waste on this earth.
Mamas don't love their kids like they
used to.
Let 'em smoke their herbs.
Nails bitten down to the nub.
Palms light a fire as they rub.
Soup never reaches its boil
And dinner ain't...

parents not really caring about their children and leaving them fall victim and prey to outside influences and drugs. Melanie explains how parents were supposed to support their children but rather got them into addiction and a dark path and parents justify these actions by saying they provided shelter.

Not sure how these interlretations can e so far from what this song is clearly about. Very sad that this generation has zero cognitive skills. This song is very clearly about the consequences of addicts giving birth to kids that they are incapable of taking care of. This song is from the perspective of the child. Soup never reaching it's boil...meaning the parents may try to take care of the kids but their addiction takes over instead. Literally, when you're nodding out on dope....the he'll of a drug in your veins as per the song...you'll forget about the dinner you started and left on the stove, about your hungry kids, etc. This is also about the vicious cycle of addiction within a family...a mother not caring enough and thus her kid starting to smoke herbs, as per the song again. It's very well-written but very clear as well so it's disappointing reading these interpretations.

This song is about drug abusing parents teaching their bad ways to their children. Since the children know nothing else they start to smoke and abuse drugs just like their parents. The parents don’t care and encourage this behaviour
    Hinted at by these lyrics

“Pupils begin to observe, watching the waste on this earth. Mamas don’t love their kids like they used to. Letting them smoke their herbs”

The children are watching their parents smoke and do drugs and the parents don’t care

i think that this song has a very deep and sad meaning
since it is based on the famous book " go ask alice " and we all know the story of it . i think that the song is about being a drug addict and no one cares about you destroying yourself even your parents "mama's don't like their kids like they used to letting them their herbs " i really think that the main cause behind the kid doing drugs is actually the mother so it comes that the kid going through hard times and becoming depressed and the mama is one of these serious issues ! " your identity changes , no longer the person you are , no longer the person they adore " those lines though ..just... as sad as it sounds.

I think that the mom accidentally got pregnant by having sex (maybe a prostitute :|) and she ignores the girl and beats her her ("freckles fall off as they're told" and "nails bitten down to the nub") and then because of this, the kid now does drugs and is like her mom.

It's just about how the mother in the song was abusing 'herbs' and she spent all her money on buying drugs (hence the part "Palms out of fire as they rub" and "Soup never reaches its boil," meaning they are probably living somewhere it's cold and without a heater and without proper food. It's exactly what it sounds like as long as you don't overthink it.
    It's also a great story :D

I think it's about moms wanting to do drugs than rather than take care of their own kids.

it means memes are like drugs and kids keep doing it and parents are being memified and try to resist but give up and end up being part of the meme team and how it's taking over their life like shrek

I actually have no real clue; I'm just taking a guess, so here it is: Kids are using drugs and other things, and their parents claim they love them, pointing out that they brought them into this world, though they do nothing to help their children or discipline them. (Just a guess, not sure how accurate it is!)
