But she knows it’s all an act, they’re all wearing masks and reading from the same script. It’s her way of saying that she refuses to be a part of any of it, She walks off stage and does her own thing her own way, as an individual. “Drama Club” is not actually about a drama club class, more so about how people fake their own feelings and opinions for other people that they wanna be friends with. Melanie is stating that she is tired of people not being themselves.

It’s about not wanting to mask in society and just be different. “Everyone’s so soft everyone’s so sensitive” explains that everyone is the same and there is no need to mask. It references masking to being part of a play and learning a script of social cues and Mel doesn’t want to do that. This is coming from an autistic adhd person.

it's about how at school (especially middle school)and just life is full of people who create their own drama, and, put simply, Melanie never asked for it, and doesn't want to deal with that.

The song actually has double meaning, the crybaby one is obvious but lets talk about the other meaning witch I believe it's about gender rolls and feminism, you can see in the film she asked to be a president or another roll and then they all made fun of her and someone told her that shes too sensitive to be in a men position, I think it's obvious now:d.

I think this song is about crybaby wanting to be perfectly imperfect instead of sticking to a script. Everyone is trying to be perfect by hiding behind a costume and a mask. In the music video (it's a little bit weird) she burns someone's face with an iron and their face melts off. This basically is showing their true self that they were trying to hide. Also at the end of the song she yells "WAKE UP" and everyone is their normal selves again. I think that part is about crybaby snapping them all back into perspective and showing them that no one can be perfect no matter how hard you try put you are all unique and perfect in your own way.

Its kinda like her life is a play. She doesn't want the role she assigned based on others interpretations, hence "I never signed up for your drama club" Everyone else is happy to hide in their costumes and behind their scripts instead of being who they want to be as it may be something society dosn't like.

People are saying how the song is about her opinion and things like that. I agree but there is another way you could look at it. I could be about her not wanting to live her life the way people expect. An example would be: if people wanted her to be a teacher or something. And get married. But she wouldn't want to live that basic (i hope u get what I'm trying to say). It would almost be like living a play. Everyone knows whats going to happen and what crybaby is going to do in her life. But she doesn't want to do that.

Honestly I feel like it’s about religion and how it’s forced on people. People live their life through the “script”(bible) and Mel/crybaby wants nothing to do with it. She wants to live under her own rules

This song is about how Melanie can't say anything without having someone offended by her. This happened to me and my friends, friends A and B lied to me and friend C. I'm still friends with A and B, just not as good friends we used to be. I mostly hang out with friend C. (Just so you guys know they lied to us cause they were always offended by friend C. Who was always nice to them.)
