This song feels like a companion to Carpe Diem Baby. Go out, face the world and make it your bitch. I don't know where the Hell you're getting the idea of regret over selling out or whatever.

This song is about Metallica wishing they were allowed to write heavy songs like they used to. They sold out and were forced to write pop rock-ish songs to appease the powers that be. "Born into attitude" : their roots were heavy... "Asleep at the wheel": just going through the motions and doing what they had to for the money but bored with it... "Just let me kill you cause I'm oh so bored to death"... Pretty self explanatory...
