   There's no way this song is about anything else to me but childhood neglect and developing avoidant and dissociative tendencies because of the pain.
   
   The "invisible kid" was told over and over again that his needs and wants are not okay and so he hides his hurt and learns to make his own life in his head to escape the pain and shame of being neglected.
   
   Floating around in your head is exactly how I feel when I'm disassociating. Thoughts kind of come and go and everything happening right in front of my eyes doesn't even feel real, just like a TV left on that I'm ignoring, I give half-hearted answers like "I'm okay" (I hope they go away so I can go back to ignoring my life) "please don't stray too far" (I am actually in immense amount of emotional pain when I'm disassociating)

   I think it's about a mistreated child. The parents always taught him to get out of their way and this made him very desperate.
   
   The following lines suggests this:
   "Ooh, what a good boy you are.
   Out of the way and you kept to yourself.
   Ooh, can't you see that he's not here?"
   
   Also it's about someone who hides inside their brain. This might refer to a child with autism (aut- or auto- means "self"). Austistic people are known for not seeking contact and being overwhelmed sometimes.
   
   I use these lyric lines as reference:

   I believe the song is simply about a kid who is a loner and sits alone in his room all day.
   "I'm okay, just go away."
   He just wants to be left alone and wants everyone to stop trying to change him.
