What does I Will Wait mean?

Mumford & Sons: I Will Wait Meaning

Album cover for I Will Wait album cover

Song Released: 2012

I Will Wait Lyrics

And I came home
Like a stone
And I fell heavy into your arms
These days of darkness
Which we've known
Will blow away with this new sun

And I'll kneel down
Wait for now
And I'll kneel down
Know my ground

And I will wait, I will wait...

I think they are in a difficult situation and they are just waiting for help, in the video they are jumping around and smiling, if you were Christian you would understand this.

I do believe it's about love, the author is in love with the subject, subjet not ready, but willing to wait. I also see a deep personal spiritual connection the author has with his creator (whomever that may be), but I think he's basically saying that he's comfortable of the person he is, where he's been, and where he's going. Just my thought. I love it because I can relate to this song tremendously.

    reconciliation with the self
not waiting for anything but finally realizing who we are by where we've been, what we've done, who we thought we should have been and what we are and where we find ourselves.

    and jesus is a myth.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

He cheated on his gf and he wishes her back. He'll will be humble and realizes he was wrong. I'm guessing famous rock star can have sex with many groupies and it is tempting. I don't see it was being about Jesus, but I could be wrong.

I also think it is about Jesus Christ and us waiting for his second coming. Coming like a stone is full of sin. He redeemed us "forgave me"

Am I the only one who thinks this?
I think the interpretation is that he professing his love to his soon to be wife by kneeling down and proposing to her. He is waiting for her response. "knows his ground" . She affected him and forgave him when he made made a mistake, and he wont forget that. Shake the excess.. saying to forget all that he has done wrong in the past and to move on together. The next verses are about how he would be with her and hes explaining to her what he needs.
    "So I'll be bold
    As well as strong
And use my head alongside my heart
    So tame my flesh
    And fix my eyes
That tethered mind free from the lies"
He explains that he will use his head as well as heart when he makes decisions, tame his flesh , make him hers, and focus his eyes on her, and focus on the love that they share together.
    "Raise my hands
    Paint my spirit gold
    And bow my head
    Keep my heart slow"
The most beautiful lyrics of them all. He is wanting her to take the vow to belong to each other together in marriage. Bow before the lord and take the vow of marriage. This whole song can also be interpreted very spiritually. Very beautiful. Amazing.
