I Don't Love You Lyrics

Well when you go
Don't ever think I'll make you try to stay
And maybe when you get back
I'll be off to find another way

And after all this time that you still owe
You're still a good-for-nothing I don't know
So take your gloves and get...

I think this song gives a little insight to what the patient did in his life. I think it implies that, perhaps, in his youth, he was a boxer. That he chose boxing over the girl he loved, and the song is from her point of view. I don't think he broke up with her, but that he ignored her to the point where every time he left to go do his boxing thing, she wished he would just come out and tell her that he didn't love her anymore.

^^ That actually makes the most sense to me. I bought the version of "The Black Parade" that has a book about making of the album coming along with it. There's a picture of boxing gloves next to the lyrics for "I don't love you".

Personally I think this song's about Gerard and his girlfriend and the "would you have the guts to say I don't love you like I loved you yesterday" is actually him talking to himself asking himself why he was such a pussy and didn't actually say to her "look I just don't love you anymore"

Oh god. I really gotta start putting interpretations on here but if you go to YouTube and look up this music video. There are a ton of comments arguing about gerard being married or not. lmao.

OK, I know this is not an interpretation, but whoever likes this song should go on YouTube and check out the video. It's pretty cool, although freaky. This lady has HUGE eyes so if anybody sees the video and knows is the eyes are special effects or the REAL eyes tell me.

With all that Gerard and the guys have stated about the making of this album, or DURING the making of it, I find this and several other songs on this album to be very revealing.
The thought that this album is all about "the patient" is very romantic, isn't it? And it's obviously working for them. But the truth is, most of these songs are much more personal and closer to them than you may can imagine.
Several major incidents happened during the time of preparing and making this piece of work (their best so far). Do you honestly believe they couldn't bring those things with them into these songs?
These incidents could be seen as terminal conditions, or definitely, inevitable conclusions to certain things in their lives. There is a strong tone of reluctant acceptance throught this album.
Think about what they have talked about in some of the interviews they've given and then you'll start seeing these songs totally opposite of what you were originally told to see them as.

gerardway_hot1: ure right about that.... but that's the only part of the song that would make you think that it's about that. unless... you think somethin else...

simella: I think that you're right. He's overcome the need for alcohol and drugs and wants to get it out of his life, but part of me also thinks that the one who thinks that it's about a couple talking is right also. They both make sense.

i think all you guys are taking the lyrics to literally. I believe its a metaphor for Gerards struggle with alcoholism and he is getting the will power to overcome the disease but it still holds a power over him so he needs to get it out of his life completely before he gives in to it again.

Ok, no offense but... dude! I think it's meant to be about a prostitute. Another dollar was just another blow, make sense?

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

I think this song is about somebody not telling his/her boyfriend/girlfriend that she/he doesn't love that person anymore. "When you go, would you have the guts to say I don't love you like I loved you yesterday."

I think this is about the patient telling his lover that he doesn't love her like he did, but would she have the guts to say it to his face like he did to her.

Its about a girl the patient cared for, but she seemed as though she didn't feel nearly the same as he did for her. She might have been emotionally abusive as well "Sometimes I cried so hard from pleading, so sick and tired of all the needless beating."
Another interpretation could be the falling out between Gerard and Bert. After Gerard got sober, thier relationship soured. "So get your gloves and get out/So fix your eyes and get up" Bert wore gloves, and since he was still involved in drugs, he had red eye alot.
A really good break up song if you ask me

this is about the patient looking back on his life and seeing his girlfriend. He's angry at her for not saying she didn't love him when she left she just dumped him and he's all mad about

I think this song is about a girl in an abusive relationship.
Where Gerard sings for the girl and the abusive boyfriend or something, hence 'Sometimes I cry so hard from pleading, So sick and tired of all the needless beating'

And he is asking the girl if she'd actually have the guts to tell her boyfriend,'goodbye, I don't love you anymore'.......

But part of me thinks this song is also about prostitution......call me crazy.

Still, I stand with the first one though.
