Vampires will Never Hurt You Lyrics

And if they get me and the sun
Goes down into the ground
And if they get me
Take this spike to my heart and

And if they get me and the sun
Goes down
And if they get me
Take this spike and

You put the spike in my heart

I pretty much think it's about being yourslef and don't follow everyone.... "vampire" to me means society all thoes who follow the herd and getting you to follow them and everyone else.

"And if they get me and the sun goes down into the ground
And if they get me take this spike to my heart and
And if they get me and the sun goes down
And if they get me take this spike and
You put the spike in my heart"
he is like saying if I turn into everyone else "kill me" or like breakup or sumthin

"And you must keep your soul like a secret in your throat"
he is tell a person to be yourself and don't let someone steal that from you

"We're hanging out with corpses, we're driving in this hearse
Someone save my soul tonight, please save my soul"
The corpses are all the followers like they might as well be the dead because they are all the same and have no life of thier own and he is begging someone to save him from all of this

"I'll never let them, I'll never let them
I'll never let them hurt you not tonight"
he is promosing the person he will not let anyone change them because who they are is perfect

    "Struck down, before our prime
Before, you got off the floor
Can you stake my heart? Can you stake my heart?"
i dunno what that means but it seems to have meaning...

"(And as always, innocent like roller coasters.
Fatality is like ghosts in snow and you have no idea what you're up against
because I've seen what they look like.
Becoming perfect as if they were sterling silver chainsaws going cascading...)"
i guess he is saying you don't know what the world is like and I have seen it and it is like chainsaws goin cascading..

Well that is what I got and still I think I totally missed it by a long shot.....or maybe the song isabout how the world is today.....hmmmmmmmm dunno Llates

The song is about how society sucks. He's using vampires as a metaphor for society and saying that it changes people. He's also saying that he won't change, no matter what society says. And he won't let society change his friends. DUHHHHHH

How the heck could you possibly hear/read any of the lyrics to this song and think that it's about blowjobs?!

That couldn't be FURTHER from what this song is about!

the song shows the story of two people, one of them is saying that if he changes, the other person will need to be strong to forget him(kill I think is just a metaphor) and vampires could be simply the change.

i feel its like how most people are saying its society or like my idea like when your friends say "if i ever become like that person please tell me or stop me" "can you stake me before the sun goes down" like stop me before its too late and i become the person i didnt want to become, similar to the society idea like how it changes you i guess.

My theory about this song is that it's about fame. It might seem a bit strange, but hear me out. Vampires represent the famous. They live like stars and celebrities and love it. This song was written in their early days so it might have been about what will they do if they become very popular.
    Now...why stars and fame?
I believe this is a metaphor. When you encuonter these vampires they tell you all about the fame and glamour they live with every day,so in a way, they bite you and turn you into one of them because because most people are so amazed by all these things that becoming famous turns into their most important goal. But,the stars eventually fade away and become forgotten. You can't be famous forever. In this case, they turn into ahes when the morning comes.
Gerard, however, doesn't want to become one of those stars. He warns somebody(very likely an important person in his life, maybe a family member or a close friend) to kill the "vampire" in him if he becomes like that. Or,in this case, put the spike in his heart.
Oh,and also...You know how fame often affects the family and friends of that person? Well assuming he is singing his song to a family member or a friend the"I'll never let them hurt you,I promise!" part might mean that even if he becomes famous he will not let his popularity affect that person's life in a bad way.

Another theory is that this song might be about bullies. They, much like vampires, suck the life out of you. And it does happen that kids join them just to be accepted or cool. That might explain why he tells somebody to "put a spike in his heart" - he wants the person to stop him from turning into one of them. But if I had to choose,I would rather go with the fame one.

Vampires will never hurt you. Don't be afraid of vampires, they will never hurt you, they will help you. They will destroy every person who will hurt you so much, and you will be so sick in your heart ... The only condition is " believe in them " , and they will help you ... and it's not psychotic thing, it's just your friend when you are afraid and lonely.

Somehow I don't think this is to do with Edward Cullen. I'm glad. TEAM KILL TWILIGHT! But not the time of day. I like that kind of twilight.

What I gathered from this song was - a vampire is trying to protect a girl from being harmed from other vampires but succumbs to temptation and ends up killing her himself.

"Yeah, obviously we use vampires as a metaphor for something else, something deeper than just the supernatural. But there's just something about the bloodsucking walking dead, that can say so much to people. There are really so many people trying to get control over you on a daily basis and steal your soul in some way, take a part of you..." - Gerard Way. This sort of sums this song up. :3 The "spike to my heart" bit, I'm guessing, is like him saying "I'd rather die than become one".

IT'S NOT ABOUT FREAKING BLOW JOBS. It's a metaphor. If vampires try to change you into a vampire, and he's using them as a metaphor for people who try to change you. The "take this spike to my heart" bit is where I think he's trying to say he'd rather die than become one of these people.

This is what I think, anyway. :) Love this song <3

I think when say 'can you stake my heart?' it is that he doesn't want to hurt someone and he will be fine if she hurts him

This song is about trying to protect someone you love from the evils in the world and maybe even yourself. That in order to protect the one you love you have to set them free and destroy your link with them.

I think the song is actually about a vampire in love with a human...the ending lines "can you stake my heart?" I think refer to "can you kill me to keep me from killing you"

Ok guys, I understand how so many people have different opinions about this song. The song does not have only one meaning for the listener to take in and apply to everyday life, but it also tells a story, as does the entire album. This is the scene in the story when the vampires attack the town the two main characters live in, the famous Demolition Lovers. This is where the vampires confusion plays in. So yes, we are supposed to be having thoughts of vampires running through our heads.

This song is also about social vampires, the people who give us trouble daily. We all deal with them... They "suck" our energy and vitality (essentially, our life, but as in the metaphor the song uses, our blood) by being cruel and hateful to us. Blow jobs? Get real people.
