I’m pretty sure it’s Gerard complaining about how he was some of the inspiration for Edward in Twilight, and saying he deserves some of the “vampire money” for that, but it’s also just a giant Fuck You to Twilight after they wouldn’t do the soundtrack

Personally, I thought this song was basically saying "money is bad". That statement meaning that you need money for everything, but it's actually kinda stupid. Famous people have money and the government wants your money, but really, money is like a vampire. It's draining all the goodness from out society. But maybe I'm just reading too much into this.

Idk but when I first heard this song I thought about them making a reference to drugs? "Vampire money" sounds like a nickname for a drug... "The kids don't care if you're alright honey/the pills don't work but it sure is funny" sounds like drug addiction...??? Ok crazy idea lol

I think it all is basically the selling out and twilight stuff, but it does remind me of something: three cheers was about a boy and his lover (basically) running through the desert away from vampires... Supposedly if a vampire bites your neck you become one... Well I think this song is a slight nod to the lovers becoming vampires and vampire money, I would think is blood, so that's just the two lovers still in the desert (battery city outskirts) wanting blood as vampires.

Gerard was asked to write a song for the Twilight movies, and refused, but then wrote this song and offered them it for free. For some reason it was rejected XD There are probably a million different meanings behind it, but as Tre Cool once said, "Dissecting it all can, and will, drive you mad. Or you can just crank it up and rock your balls off"

I love this song it sounds like its about themselves, they're dissing themselves basically saying were actually crap, blagging our way along and pretending we are what we aren't and its been happening for too long

Gerard said in an interview with Fox that the song meant selling out, hence "vampire" money. Said directly by the artist. Knowing you guys, though, you'll probably figure out some kind of deep meaning originating from some dead religion or something...
