It’s about life inside of a sweatshop.

The rest of the song follows perfectly in line with that theory, with the lyrics bellow being the nail in the coffin.

“I'm writing on a little piece of paper
I'm hoping someday you might find
Well I'll hide it behind something
    They wont look behind

    I am still inside here
A little bit comes bleeding through
I wish this could've been any other way
    But I just don't know, I don't know
    What else I can do“

Like nothing gets better. It's always the same. The feelings or lack of. Like I have no other way to be. Just, numb. So numb it feels like a vague dream that's on repeat. Lonely. That maybe, one day, someone will find my pain and cluster of emotions and understand. But not today. Maybe not ever, because everyday is exactly the same. That's just my personal interpretation.

pretty sure this is more about Trent Reznors drug abuse but songs can mean different things to different people.

I have a child that tried to commit suicide and didn't know why, good home life, straight As. She said she was going through the motions that she was just living a dream. She felt that others didn't understand and withdrew even more and that she didn't have a voice.

This song came straight to my mind, almost identical to her feelings and how she perceived the post suicide that we were always watching to make sure it doesn't happen again.

When I first heard this song I thought it was more about having a job and doing the same thing, job, come home eat, sleep, and then repeat but after her situation I think it resonates even more to teenage suicide, not feeling anything, and once you try that "they" is parents and loved ones watching over you to make sure you are OK and don't do it again.
