High Hopes Lyrics

Had to have High High Hopes for a living
Shooting for the stars when I couldn't make a killing
Didn't have a dime but I always had a vision
Always had HIGH HIGH HOPES!

I think it means that you should never give up and keep pushing and you will be able to achieve what ever you want to.

Actually, I think the interpretation that uses the literal meaning is only half of it.

He's got to have "High Hopes" for a living, I believe is a shoutout to the amount of work that it takes to get where you want to be. You cannot be distracted, it's got to be your full time job.
Many people grow up and get told "you'll be big someday" but that doesn't necessarily mean that they will. It just means that they've got talent, but most don't do the work.

It's also a shoutout to those who don't fit into the societal mold of "normal." Encouragement that part of who you are is your talent, to embrace it, and you don't need anything else. Sometimes the hardest place to get to is one of positivity and inspiration, so it's important to embrace it when you're there. Hence the "stay up on that rise, stay up on that rise, never come down..." because he recognizes what a roller coaster that life can be and to enjoy the good moments when you get to have them - they won't be around forever.

I think this song's message is about following your dreams and never giving up, no matter what comes in your way. In the music video, we see Brendon Urie getting bumped into and no one pays attention to him until he climbs the building, when everyone notices him.

I think that the song had fun pop rock and that it had some fun pop and it’s fun and to write about high hopes and so it’s a good song idea but my parents are really into it and that make them dance! And obviously they would record it into poetry and it seemed!

Personally i think this song is dedicated to those who think they can't make it in life and be what they wanna be due to one's disability, lack of self confidence and other problems that one cant help to fix. Then again that's just my opinion. Overall this is a song that hopes to push you to be what you wanna be and never stop climbing to the very top until you hit its peek. That's what i assume PATD was aiming to say to their listeners.

Okay, so a few other people are thinking about achieving goals, and thats sorta what i'm talking about here. You see, Brendon Urie who is the singer is trying to 'defy' gravity and basicly be a tree frog. Like, it's obvious in the music video. So yes, what i talked about was pretty much 98% achieving dreams, so yay, I guess...................
