   In an interview, Brendon said it was about jealousy, thus the "Green" in the "The Green Gentleman" The lyrics "A falling out we won't tiptoe about" is probably about the main character and his girlfriend who broke up and is with someone else now. The main character is jealous of the new guy but he accepts that things have changed like a gentleman and doesn't bring it up and tries to forget it.

   Everyone getting low rates is right, in concert Brendon flat out says that the song is about weed. That Green Gentleman is weed. "I want to go where everyone feels the same." Yeah, high, that's where everyone feels the same. The whole song is about smoking weed in an attempt to not care or make you indifferent. That's the whole "I never said I missed her when everybody kissed her" thing.

   In the video, you can see how the band, laughs at the younger versions of them. Alan Ferguson (the director of the video) said in the behind the scenes video that "we're shooting the scene were panics on the boat, this is the new panic, this is 08 (2008). its all most like the new panic is riding the boat and laughing at the old panic who kind of new and all washed up, it's like saying goodbye to the old and hello to the new."
   
   so I think the song about panics change over the years. And that in the scene were half their bodies kind of pop off and the kids come out, it's like saying that, the younger(kid) versions of them are still in there but they will kind of always be the same
   
   All of this kind of feeds into "things have changed for me and that's ok, I feel the same, I'm on my way." things have changed for panic, but it's ok, they don't feel any different because they will always be panic (kind of) in their hearts and their on their way to keep making more music etc.
   also, there are things like "things are shaping up to be pretty odd" that kind of means they never knew they would become famous etc

   The song is in fact about Jelousy and ya ya I know the Brendan at the concert said it was about marijuana but in a interview he says that it is in fact about Jelousy and him trying to be a gentleman about it. So it's about the narrator and his girlfriend broke up and do to that she is now sleeping around with others and she is lying about (you'll only hear these elegant crimes fall on your ears from criminal dimes) which implies lying so she is lying that she isn't sleeping around or vise versa that she is lying that she is sleeping around. (I never said I missed her when everybody kissed her Now I’m the only one to blame.) implying that he blames himself for not going back to her when he could now that she moved on. (things have changed for me and thats okay) is him moving on

   I agree with the song being about weed because when you search the definition of 'green gentlemen' (did I spell is right?) the definition is a classy 'pothead' or simply a person who smokes week etc.

   I used to think that 'that green gentleman' was in fact envy, however I looked at my Pretty. Odd. CD and saw that Brendon (lead vocals, rhythm guitar) and Spencer (drums and percussion)thank someone called 'that green gentleman'. now I desperately want to know who he is!

   I went to their concert, and this is what Brendon said about it, "Alright, this next song is about marijuana. I don't care what your views are on it." That Green Gentleman is marijuana (because it's green...it's a plant). When he sings "Things have changed for me" I'm pretty sure he's saying he stopped smoking (if he even did in the first place).
