Let the Flames Begin Lyrics

What a shame we all became, such fragile broken things,
A memory remains, Just a tiny spark,
I give it all my oxygen, to let the flames begin,
So let the flames begin,

Ohhhh Glory.... Ohh Glory!

This is, how we'll dance when,
when...

This song is about standing up to what u believe in and not letting anyone put you down, to always trust yourself and to not care what anyone else thinks of you.

I'm so glad that some people are actually able to see the Christian influence in quite a few of their songs... I agree with some of the other posters on this one (the song being about praising God through persecution)... a meaning I would never have confidently attributed to the song without the ending to their concert version...
The same goes for the concert version of the song "Miracle" which ends with "I asked for love. I asked for mercy. I asked for patience, but you're already all of these things. If I knew what I needed... if I knew what was good for me... I'd be down on my knees begging please, please, please, let your light shine bright inside of me"... Even though they didn't put these endings on album versions, their presence in the concert versions makes it pretty hard to deny a faith aspect to their music.

I wasn't inclined to think this was a Christian song until I heard the version on The Final Riot. "Father, oh Father, I am ready, won't You let it begin, 'cause I am here now, I want to dance in the palm of Your mighty hand." I think it's pretty clear who Hayley is belting her little voice out to.

With that said, I'm pretty sure the song is about the challenges Christians face and how we can stand strong and praise our God ("this is how we dance") even as the enemy does everything in his power to destroy us. He will do anything and everything to make us lose our faith in Christ, but we will be strong and trust in Him ("this is what we'll be, oh Glory).

I just made the previous post, then was interested as to what she said exactly, as I couldn't remeber. She turns to the side (not facing the audience)and sings:

    Father, oh Father
    oh Father, oh Father

    Father, well I am ready
    won't You let it begin
    Cause I am here now
    I want to dance in
The mighty palm of Your hand.

    Its pretty powerful

Has anyone seen their Final Riot DVD Live from Chicago? At the end of this song, Hayley drops to her knees and raises a hand to the air singing "Father, I am ready" True, they may not be a Christian band, but I am hard=pressed not to argue that they Christian influences. As a songwriter, its hard not write about things that influence you, even its not the direction that you want to go.

Paramore is not a Christian rock band and this song has nothing to do with issues Christians face. It is issues and things everyone faces and the song means to stay strong and always stay standing even when someone burns your house down, example from the song.

Let The Flames Begin by Paramore was interpreted by me as a song illustrating the Christian strength as we face the trials in everyday life.

    (Fighting for something)

What a shame we all became such fragile, broken things
A memory remains just a tiny spark
I give it all my oxygen,
    So let the flames begin
    So let the flames begin
(They have defeated by someone at first and she is starting this up again)

    Oh, glory
    Oh, glory
This is how we'll dance when
When they try to take us down
This is what will be, oh glory
(They are going to stand up to this person)

    Somewhere weakness is our strength,
And I'll die searching for it
I can't let myself regret such selfishness
My pain and all the trouble caused,
    No matter how long
    I believe that there's hope
    Buried beneath it all and
    Hiding beneath it all, and
    Growing beneath it all, and
(There's hope somewhere and she go to great lengths to find out what makes this other person tick)

This is how we'll dance when
When they try to take us down
This is how we'll sing out loud
This is how we'll stand when
When they burn our houses down
This is what will be, oh glory
(They're standing up to the cause and they are not backing down no matter what they do to them.)

Reaching as I sink down into light.
Reaching as I sink down into light.
(she's dying and trying to reach out I guess, I'm not really sure.)

This is how we dance when
When they try to take us down
This is how we'll sing out loud
This is how we'll stand when,
When they burn our houses down
This is what will be, oh glory
    (same as I said before)
