   I'd listened to this song a hundred times without ever really understanding what I now think is the true meaning... Then I heard the "outro" in a concert version of it, and it blew me away. In essence, the outro says:
   
   "I asked for love. I asked for mercy. I asked for patience, but you're already all of these things. If I knew what I needed... if I knew what was good for me... I'd be down on my knees begging please, please, please, let your light shine bright inside of me"
   
   With that in mind, in my opinion, this song is a conversation with herself, and with God. I agree with the post that it's about dealing with pain (depression, poor decisions etc.)... in the verses I think she's talking ABOUT herself, and TO God...
   
   "I've gone for too long living like I'm not alive, so I'm going to start over tonight
   Beginning with you and I"
   
   "We've learned to run from anything uncomfortable. We've tied our pain below and no one ever has to know that inside we're broken. I try to patch things up again, to calm my tears and kill these fears"...
   
   And in the chorus I think she's talking TO herself
   
   "I'm not going cause I've been waiting for a miracle, and I'm not leaving. I won't let you, let you give up on a miracle when it might save you"
   
   So basically, to me this is a song of repentance and putting faith in God... waiting for a "Miracle"

   I think this song is about getting through self hate, self injury, and depression... before you say "that's not even close," read the lyrics a little closer.... she's waiting for a miracle to save her from depression because she doesn't want to live like that anymore. "We've tied our pain below, aqnd no one ever has to know that inside we're broken. We try to patch things up again. Cut my tears and kill these fears." Hm, ever think about the REAL meaning?

   I appreciate inamkg to talk about this kind of, I believe extremely with this also have a passion for knowing much more about this approach area.    I think this song is about hayley going through life, just basically getting by. Having no fun. Finally, she realizes that life is too short to live like that, so she wants to start over, starting with the fact that years from now, when this boy is gone, she wants, instead of the memory of their boring relationship, for there to be hope and taking chances.
   
   so, now, she's waiting for a miracle, so that maybe their relationship can be more than what it is.
   
   The next part is (in my opinion) about living outside of your comfort zone. Letting down your walls and allowing uncomfortable or confusing things, like love, to come in. And maybe even let your love know what you're going through, that way you won't be going through it alone.
   
   And, again, her miracle.
   
   Then, she wants him to know that he's not putting his faith into something, he's just seeing whats been there all along. That there is no reason to be afraid of what might come because it's already there. She's telling him that she's willing to put their past behind her, as long as he will take the effort to try not completely screwing up this time, and keep moving forward.
   
   Then, the rest is talking about her miracle, and how he can't fail if he just looks right in front of him (it's not faith if you're using your eyes)

   In Miracle, Hayley is saying "I've gone for too long, living like i'm not alive, so i'm going to start over tonight, beginning with you and I" She wasn't taking risks and now she's ready to take risks in her relationships and embrace life, and take chances. "i'm not going cause i've been waiting for a miracle, and i'm not leaving" she won't leave, she's waiting, hoping, praying for her miracle, and she won't let her lover give up on the miracle either, she really believes it will come and save them, or save their relationship
