I Got Id Lyrics

My lips are shaking, my nails are bit off
its been a month since i heard myself talk
all the advantage this life has on me
picture a cup in the middle of the sea

but i fought back in my mind
never lets me be right
i got memories, i got...

I think it is a sing of reflection about his relationship with Kurt Cobain.
Maybe in vague terms but I think the emotion sums up the sudden loss and regret and abandonment of the time. The confusion in him being gone and the current state of Ed's mental health in late 94/95.

I think he has a heart full of love to give, but he is too broken to make it happen. He can’t initiate a relationship, therefore he’s only able to dream about what he has to offer.

To me....this master piece represents all of us when we hit our lowest of lows. Then it takes one special person to turn you around.

A man that didnt realize what he had, real love, until it was too late, and it was out of reach... gone. Hence- "Never held you in real life"..or...love- very depressed when comes to this realization that he has lost- potentially,...everything worth living for.

I have listened to this song a lot and I think it is much more complicated then it seems. I believe it is about a man who is very sick, either mentally or physically or both. he is very close with a certain girl whom he falls in love with before he gets sick. she cares for him while he is sick and he imagines it is more, but when he wakes up he realizes it is only in his head. "I walked the line" is referring to the line between fantasy and reality. yes she did hold him all night, but only to comfort him and nothing more. he resigns himself to only being with her only in his mind and never "in real life"
