Rent Lyrics

(again... again... again... ooooh
(again... again... again... again... ...)

You dress me up, Im your puppet
You buy me things, I love it
You bring me food, I need it
You give me love, I feed it

And look at the two of us in...

Couldn't this be a song by a pet. Free housing, use as a puppet. Who knows? I guess its up for interpretation. Listened to it about a hundred times. The extasy part is a little off, but in the eyes of a hump dog it could be relevant.

It's about a young person who has nothing of his own but has an older, wealthier partner who is besotted with them and basically funds their opulent lifestyle. They never argue because the older partner is completely besotted and panders to the younger partner's every need. The younger partner is more in love with his lifestyle than he is with the older partner but the older partner has convinced himself that the younger one has totally mutual feelings.

it's definately a song about money...how some people naturally become big breadwinners and other people live more humbly. the video for the song shows a pompous bourgeouis uppercrust snobby man canoodling with his friends, champagne and caviar by candlelight at some luxury hotel. and there she is in her tacky dress trying to get his attention. but she can't get his attention and even after she descends down the staircase she throws off her shawl and gets into the limo. she sits in the backseat and tries repeatedly to talk to her pompous ex-love on her cell. she gets nowhere with him, he is preoccupied and he is not there for her. finally, she gets out of the limo and runs into the train station and goes running straight into the arms of a poor man in scrubs. this is a song about destiny. she was never meant to be the wifey of the uppercrust man. no no no. she was destined for the guy at the train station. this is my interpretation based off the video footage. it is also pretty accurate since my ex from many years ago played this song on his stereo back in the day when we went out. he truly did become an uppercrust man and i truly did end up with a more humble man. i found it pretty accurate.

Ok, I think this song is about a guy who is with a lady, just for the money she has. "We never ever argue, never calculate the currency we've spent, I love you, you pay my rent" is just saying that they don't argue because as long as she is paying his rent and keeps the good flow of money, the guy isn't going to complain.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
