The words 'diamonds and why men buy them' is never in the actual song but in the song it talks about sex.. like a lot... So, I was thinking, the song has no context unless you look at the title as well. I think they meant that men buy diamonds to give to their lovers but the lovers are only with them for the money and once it runs out they'll leave, hence the lyric, 'now I saw the moon divorce the sky.'
