When Your Heart Stops Beating Lyrics

Turn it up, I never wanna go home
i only wanna be part of your breakdown
she got caught by the four on the floor
and picked her up
and she'll never get let down

and now i can't stop
thinking about it
all you people at the top
don't know...

While the first interpretation may very well be true, I read into it a little bit differently.
I think that this song is about a girl who is addicted to drugs, and how the girl, herself, is his drug. And regardless of how fucked up she gets, he wants to be there, because he is addicted to her, just as she is addicted to these drugs that are making her lose it.
I also think that the first verse is referencing how judgemental the media can be and stating that he doesn't give a fuck, that he just lives his life the way he would without all the attention.

This song is about someone falling in love, the emotions you have to deal with at this moment, facing infatuation, wanting to have this reciprocal. The sentiment of uniqueness too, the thing that nothing counts except you and your love.

I agree most with that it was either about blink 182 breaking up or a girl on drugs.
either one of those makes the most sense.
    But HITLER?? wtf?
Come on people, where the fuck does that come from?
No offense but that's really dumb
    it made me laugh though.

I myself always thought it was about a friendzone. A boy and a girl are on a prom or party.
Only guys that were in friendzone will understand.
The first part "...I never wanna go home..." is about wanting to be with the girl all the time. At the time when she gets rejected or cheated by other boy-when she gets breakdown. To be there for her. Maybe get a chance.
"...she got caught by the fool..." Random guy starts to flirt with her. He wont get you chance to get to her for the rest of the nigh. "...She'll never get let down..."

Then there is "...Ill be there when your hearth stops beating..." as her bestfriend you are always there when the guy leaves her. You are always there when her hearth stops beating.

"...We dont give a fuck what the price is..." You as the bestfriend dont care what the price of getting the girl is. Your gonna be there hoping you will eventually get her.

"...leave us to our own devices..." Let us do it our way. Let us do it by the friendzone.

I way more like the "girl on drugs" meaning but I wanted to share how I thought about the song :)

Idk if I'm right about this, but I've always thought this song was a about a girl who is depressed and wants to take her own life. The singer is in love with this girl even though shes expressed her desires to die. She's been cutting to relieve some of her pain, but it's never enough.
"a little something just to take off the edge
a little more and i'll fall off the planet entirely"
I think that's referring to her cutting herself. If she loses enough blood, she would die.

I think the song is about a drug overdose. There are several lyrics relating to an overdose. First off the title is a reference to a consequence of an over dose. "we don't give a fuck what the price is so just leave us to our own devices" is a reference to buying drugs. And finally "a little something just to off the edge a little more and I'll fall of the planet entirely" is referencing the affect of an overdose.

This might not make much sense, but I think it's about some guy who likes this girl, but hates her as well because she broke his heart by being flirty and liking another guy. So he wants to kill her. I think we all have had this sort of felling towards someone we like.

It's about being in love with someone and not caring what anyone else thinks about it. The whole band posted what every one of their songs is about on their website....Not every song is about the break up..people are looking into it way too much. It would be pretty self-centered if the entire album was about Tom

When your heart stops beating is about sex. Sex is an underlying theme throughout the record, and this track is no exception.
In France, and orgasm is sometimes known (in its english translation) as 'little death' (Which is the song title from another track).
'I'll be there when your heart stops beating' = I'll be there when you orgasm [little death]
'Last breath etc' = Another way of saying the above.
'In the dark when there's no one listening/when we both get carried away' = the times when they're screwing.
    That's what I think anyway.

This song is about Hitler. It is obvious through the song and the video that accompanies the song. "I'll be there when your heart stops beating" is about people wanting Hitler dead. "All the people at the top don't know nothing about it", mean people that aren't Jewish can't understand the Jewish people's plight. They don't care what the price of freedom, but they'll find a way and want to be left alone. Mark Hoppus "can't stop thinking about it", which means the hardships made him cry, and deeply disturbed him. His wife, however, isn't as affected by it (She says it all without a thought in her head /She says it all and she's pressed up against me). In the first verse, mark says that his wife didn't know about world war two enough and was only think about Plus 44 (She got caught by the four on the floor-four means plus forty four), but mark taught her about world war two (It picked her up and she'll never get let down). By "it", he is referring to himself, because he is very self-depricating, and sees himself as an "it" rather than a "him".

I think that this song is about blink-182 and the break-up; when he says " I never want to go home, I only want to be part of your breakdown", he is talking about how everyone had to go home and stop just because tom was having a breakdown; when he says "all your people at the top don't know nothing bout it", he is talking about how the people at the top (managers, producers, ect.) didn't actually know what was going on and they were only listening to tom; when he says "we don't give a fuck what your price is so just leave us to our own devices and we'll leave you alone",he is saying that he dosen't care about how good ava is "supposed" to be and he just wants tom to leave him alone; and the chorus is obviously saying that when tom is washed up and all of his fame has died off, mark will still be going strong.
