Conditions of My Parole Lyrics

Sweet baby Jesus on fire! I'ma need a damn lawyer and a miracle to pull my ass outta this. Devil kept on poking the bull, so I shipped her ass to Mozambique 'cause I was over it. Shoulda dumped my gat into the Verde, but what if she's a zombie or...

It sounds like he burned a woman in a very brutal way emotionally to finally break off a toxic relationship. That's what the mozambique medaphor is. The gat being his britality that he should have dumped into the verde but he is too insecure (what if shes a zombie or a dracula) to leave it behind with the "body". The judge and warden are his guilt and he is trying desperately to convince himself that she is gone but to that part of his mind the evidence doesn't add up(the CSI couldnt find the body to corroborate my bullshit story) and shes still "alive" or part of his life. He feels bad and thats why she haunts him like something supernatural.

This song directly ties into the entire album theme of "V is for Vagina." If you pay attention to the song progression and the story they tell - one of a man falling in love with the Queen B only to find out that she is, in fact, the Devil (hence the band name) - then you realize that this devil hasn't left Maynard, our protagonist alone.

In a rage, or desperation, he shot her twice in the chest and once in the head (Mozambique) and dumped her body in the Verde river.

But she is the Devil. She is a demon. She could be a zombie, a dracula (ie something supernatural) and that's why he DOESN'T want the Judge to grant him parole.

He knows that the Puscifer is coming to get him.

Underneath all the metaphors it feels like an addiction. An addiction to women, to sex, to drugs to something. He can't break this addiction so he tried to kill it and being in "jail" was his down time. Now he knows it is coming back to claim him.

He's done something wrong, killed a woman. She kept provoking him so he shot her. A Mozambique drill is two shots the the chest, one in the head.

The Verde is a river in Arizona in which he could of dumped his gun, but he is unsure if she's dead or 'undead' so he keeps hold of his gat. She can't of been human, she was too much of a fucking devil bitch. But the police don't care.

He's obviously on parole and swears he didn't break the law. Again, she can't have been human.

It sounds like it all happened in a black out, he got wasted while on parole and maybe this whole story didn't even happen. But nonetheless, he was found guilty of pissing in public etc. and violating his parole. Now he's hoping he's not released in case she comes back to get him. He's over his head a bit.

This song could mean anything. It's James Keenan.
