Save Me Lyrics

It started off so well
They said we made a perfect pair
I clothed myself in your glory and your love
How I loved you
How I cried
The years of care and loyalty
Were nothing but a sham it seems
The years belie we lived the lie
"I love you...

The song starts with a Love for Jesus "I clothed myslef in your glory and your love, how I loved you, how I cried". Faith is questioned as stated "As years go by we lived a lie" where the struggle with the feelings of the flesh conflicted with the word of God, but still crying out for saving and support. He then talks about giving himself to satan and starting again "to start again with somebody new, was it all wasted, all that love. I hang my head and I advertise, a soul for sale or rent, i have no heart I'm cold inside, I have NO REAL INTENT" Then back to the chorus where he pleads "Save Me, Save Me, Save Me!" Then on to "Each night I cry, I STILL BELIEVE the lie, I'll love you till I die." He re affirms his faith. And the chorus of Save Me Save Me with a "Yeah" response.

To me, the lyric ‘a soul for sale or rent’ truly expresses how lost he felt and how much he needed someone to love him, as he even ‘advertise(s)’ himself. However it’s the words ‘I have no heart, I’m cold inside’ that perfectly convey the loneliness felt after being left by a loved one. Although Brian did write this about a friend’s broken marriage, I would love to believe that these were Freddie’s words as they remind me so much of the loneliness he felt.

It was written by Brian May about a friend losing his marriage. My guess is Freddie’s marriage to Mary Austin. Obviously, once he realized it was gay, he lost her and their marriage basically ended.

Hear those that will listen. This is Freddie's final plea to his Father.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

Could this not be from the point of view of Mary Austin or even from Freddies point of view about Mary

I have read that Brian May wrote this about a friend of his whose marriage was breaking up. To me, you would be hard pressed to find the sheer grief and sadness of heartbreak expressed so accurately in the written word. The line "naked and far from home", a simplistic phrase in itself, captures the absolute devastation, crushing loneliness and cold sense of abandonment of losing someone you gave your entire heart to. However, the most haunting lyric in the song is, rightfully, saved until the last part of the song, "each night I cry, I still believe the lie, I love you till I die". This captures the utter sense of hope against all hope that, somehow, that lost lover will come back. It's the self-torture that goes with along with having your heart shattered, the longing for that woman or man to come back into your life and make everything good again, hence the title, "Save Me". This song is a largely unappreciated masterpiece.

He was in love with someone who he thought was dedicated to him, then they broke up...He finds he can't live without her and is devastated and wants to be saved.
"Each night I cry, I still believe the lie, 'I love you until I die'"...means he still believes there is a way they can be together somehow, or really wants to believe it, wants it to be true.

Originally (before i looked at the lyrics) i thought that it was to do with finding God, as the term "save me (or saved)" is often associated with accepting Jesus, but looking at the lyrics it does seem to point toward a brake up, but Freddy Murcury did always tell fans to come up with there own interpretations, which i always thought was cool, so really i guess it could mean a lot of things the way you look at it :)

I believe it has to do with the dealings of tad in his early days. "save me save me"

It's about a couple who were together and everythings was going well. They thought it was a match made in heaven but then they broke up.
