Mutter Lyrics

Die Tränen greiser Kinderschar - The tears of a crowd of very old children
ich zieh sie auf ein weisses Haar - I string them on a white hair
werf in die Luft die nasse Kette - I throw the wet chain into the air
und wünsch mir, dass ich eine...

"Man sieht ihn um die Kirche schleichen
seit einem Jahr ist er allein
Die Trauer nahm ihm alle Sinne
schlft jede Nacht bei ihrem Stein"

Thats the opening line to "Heirate Mich" by Rammstein

I feel that this is about an aborted child. Maybe anti abortion? The part that got me was birthmark on the head and death so I thought of abortion.

Ugh... Long one. Anyway, the song is about a clone man who has somehow escaped.

    =====
"the tears of a crowd of very old children
i string them on a white hair
i throw the wet chain into the air
and wish that I had a mother"

the old childer are clones. They're still children because they have not been born. The wet chains are his breathing tubes/etc.

    "no sun shines for me
there was no breast that cried milk
there is a tube that sticks in my throat
i have no navel on my stomach"

same. He has no navel because he is a clone. He never had a mother.

"I was not allowed to lick any nipples
and there was no fold to hide in
no one gave me a name
fathered in haste and without sperm"

he was fathered in haste without sperm because he was part of a mass cloning project.

"for the mother who never gave birth to me
    i have sworn tonight
i will send her a sickness
and afterwards make her sink in the river"

im not so sure here, but I think he wants to kill his mother, but it may be a deeper metaphor...

"an eel lives in her lungs
    on my forehead, a birthmark
remove it with the kiss of a knife
even if it causes me to die"

the birthmark on his head is probably a number or marking which he wants to remove and make himself human again.

"an eel lives in her lungs
    on my forehead, a birthmark
remove it with the kiss of a knife
even if it causes me to bleed to death"

im still not sure about the 'eel'. Maby its some sort of breathing device? Or maby its litterally an eel because she's at the bottom of the river?

    "mother
    oh give me strength"

    -----
as you see I have some holes in my explanation. Care to fill me in?

This is a line that is used in a David Lynch movie.

Man sieht ihn um die Kirche schleichen
seit einem Jahr ist er allein
Die Trauer nahm ihm alle Sinne
schläft jede Nacht bei ihrem Stein

The good thing is you can translate it literally and it still works the same way and even rhymes:

You see him creep around the church
Since a Year he is alone
The sorrow took all of his senses
Sleeps every night beside her stone

Now enjoy "rolling" the "r" and scaring girls at the bonfire with a deep german accent! It will give you a better knowledge of the "Rammstein" Feel than a hundred words of interpretation. For any translation / interpretation questions, just open a thread and ask: I am from Germany and it will be a pleasure for me to help.

This song is about a test tube baby, it says that he has no belly button. It's about asexual reproduction and how the child who is product of this type of reproduction could feel.

Some more info: Till was abandoned and disowned at an early age, so he has a hatred of his parents. This explains some of the lyrics, but I can't think of any examples.

This is a very sad song. I don't speak German, but the translation is very interesting. Till (the singer) seems to speak of never having a proper mother, and he seems to swear he will kill her whan he sees her. The song is very slow, even the chorus is subdued for Rammstein.
