This man was depressed, lonely, sad angry through out his life and Jesus set him free now he has a hope that he will live again.. and hes saying life is short, you better be ready.

I think this song is about a man, dying of some sort of disease, and he's reminiscing about how his life was and how it changed him.
When it comes to the end of the song, he says he still clinging to the hope that he'll go to heaven. When its finally time for him to die, he has one last memory. Of some sort of tragic event of his past, how he killed or hurt something or someone close to him and how he prayed for forgiveness.
