The song was released in the United Kingdom on September 12, 1988; it entered the chart at the #16 and its highest chart position was #6; it stayed 11 weeks in the UK Singles Chart.[1] On the Billboard Hot 100, it also reached #6.[1] Astley kicked off Paula Abdul's "Straight Up", and stayed at #1 for two weeks in Canada.[1] It was an international success.
