I think this song is about what really happened to Shawn in one of his past relationships. I think when he started to become famous, he had a girlfriend and he couldn’t give her the love, support, and all the aspects that come with being in a relationship. So he thinks it’s best that they break up so she can live a normal life. He thinks she can find a person who can treat her better and give her the emotional and physical support as he is starting to travel and will not see her as much. He asks her to not be a fool and wait for him, as well as love him because as much as he’d like to, he can’t give these things to her so he thinks it’s in her best interest to not waste her time on a relationship that would fail. I feel like he loved her and still does, cause this is some pretty deep shit.
