Geronimo Lyrics

Can you feel it?
Now it's coming back we can steal it.
If we bridge this gap,
I can see you
Through the curtains of the waterfall.

When I lost it,
Yeah you held my hand,
But I tossed it,
Didn't understand,
You were waiting,
As I dove...

I found the meaning of it...
Geronimo was the English name given to a Native American who famously took revenge on Mexicans who killed his family. Sheppard uses the term in this song for a different reason. Soldiers who jump out of planes often shout “Geronimo!” as a way of communicating that they are fearless. This term invokes that connotation in this song: taking a leap fearlessly into the unknown.“Bombs away” is another expression that carries the same connotations of “Geronimo.”

Sheppard indicates that the fearless leap into the unknown in this song refers to love, which is always a rush, but never without its risks.

The pursuit of love in the relationship moved too fast, causing problems.

The waterfall only provides imagery; it is not a metaphor for something.

I think everyone is pretty much spot on here so far. He lost love and wants to make amends. He can now see what he couldn't see before (through the curtains). He was in love and threw it away (tossed it). he didn't understand she was waiting for him to go all in.
Say Geronimo, just go all in, falling in love is a leap of faith when you do. You can't see where it'll take you (through the curtains of the waterfall) but you'll never land without the leap. If you leap through the waterfall with faith that you'll land safely in the pool below, love is a thing where you just may land on the rocks but you can't find love without the leap.
The first time they rushed it, went too fast. they broke up (crushed it) but that was then (in the past). Now he wants to make that leap. Bombs away....

I think this song is about being on the edge of something big in your life, and just jumping in completely. Giving it a go and seeing how it works out.

During the raid to assassinate Osama bin Laden, the soldiers had troubles as one helicopter had crashed in the compound, and could have alerted the Taliban. The words," Moving way too fast, that we crushed it could have been referring to that. Anyways when the soldiers finally killed Osama, they said,"For God and country, Geronimo, Geronimo, Geronimo." This song could have been a unknown tribute to those soldiers.

So I think it's about a guy named Geronimo, who was being chased by the Military. And the guy jumped off a waterfall to get away, but instead of dying he survived. And the Military dropped bombs and then jumped out the planes. They said Geronimo because the guy himself was named Geronimo.

The curtain of the waterfall, is the veil of enlightenment...going from not believing or having faith in the creator to all in. Belieiving and living fearless

I think Geronimo has a little mention about the war when they sing "bombs away" and how the soldiers would yell 'Geronimo' when Jumping out of the aeroplane.

I think the song Geronimo by Sheppard is about two star crossed lovers. In the beginning of the song George Sheppard sings, "if we bridge this gap, I can see you, through the curtain of a waterfall". This lyric hints that there is a gap needing to be bridged. Through our interpretation we see this bridge as one between two people from different sides of war. The music video also affirms our theory on the song being about two star crossed lovers from different sides of war. In the music video a revolution is depicted. As both groups fight one another, George Sheppard, after singing, "we can make this leap, through the curtains of the waterfall", goes on to kiss a girl from the opposing side. This confirms the star crossed lover narrative.

I think it’s just another song that promotes self love and image, representing just go all in “Geronimo” meaning just take risks and chances. Being of this world doing whatever you feel is right, instead of seeking God and asking him what’s right and wrong. “To just go for it” meaning go for love, relationships, sin, drugs etc. there’s depth to this song and I think it’s another song from satan to distract you from the truth. Which is Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins, and desires for you to trust him as your personal Lord and Savior. Worldly music will only draw you more and more away from him. “Geronimo” is subtle, and deceiving like many other songs. If it’s not praising God it’s praising satan. Be careful what y’all listen too, God bless.

I think it means that we should be fearless in what we try and let go of everything that is holding us back.

We played this song on our way to an at-risk youth camp. We had a lot hanging on the balance for some of these kids. We had been praying & fasting for a miracle. Geronimo summed up our feelings of temerity, snatching these kuds away crom harm's way. Daring to challenge their status quo. Refusing to stay indifferent. The "courtain of the water falls" are the prayers abd tears spoken on behalf of these kiddos. It's the bath of transformation when one, even one of these kids chooses to stand tall and defy all odds and be different and change his or her story with God's help. And Geronimo, well, it's a war cry. It's war against an enemy that comes to hurt, to kill, to steal from these young lives. Bombs away! Here we come to fight, to snatch away these souls from darkness into God's admirable light. Geronimo! Bombs away!!!!!!!!

I think the lyrics are a poetic depiction of 2 teenagers exploring the act of making love...

    Can you feel it?
Now it's coming back (new erection)
    We can steal it.
    If we bridge this gap,
    I can see you
Through the "curtains of the waterfall" (female genitalia)

    When I lost it (clitoris)
Yeah you held my hand (guided me back)
But I tossed it (shot my load too early)
    Didn't understand,
    You were waiting,
As I dove into the waterfall.

    Can you feel my love?
    Bombs away (ejaculation)

    Well we rushed it,
Moving way too fast (the cry of women everywhere)
That we crushed it (missed the moment)
    But it's in the past.
We can make this leap (try again)
Through the curtains of the waterfall.

(I could get really specific here, but use your imagination for the last verse...)

    Well I'm just a boy,
    With a broken toy
    All lost and coy
At the curtains of the waterfall.
    So it's here I stand
    As a broken man,
    But I've found my friend
At the curtains of the waterfall.
    Now I'm falling down,
    Through the crashing sound.
    And you've come around,
At the curtains of the waterfall.
    And you rushed to me,
    And it sets us free.
So I fall to my knees,
At the curtains of the waterfall.
