What does Snuff mean?

Slipknot: Snuff Meaning

Album cover for Snuff album cover

Song Released: 2009

Snuff Lyrics

Bury all your secrets in my skin
Come away with innocence, and leave me with my sins
The air around me still feels like a cage
And love is just a camouflage for what resembles rage again…

So if you love me, let me go. And run away...

This is the slow one. Its another personal one.Again, not naming names its about
someone who helped me through a lot and i thought she felt the same way that i did and she really let me down. at the same time, it was good that she did, because it was that final push to me figuring out myself. The lyrics are pretty self explanatory.

This song's lyrics have to be my favorite mainly because I had something that happened to me that was very similar to what the song explains. This song is really straight forward and talks about a girl that he loved and and that he did not deserve. The second part (starting with 'I still press your letters to my lips') talks about him missing her and her not fighting to keep their love strong. In the end she sold him out to save herself, meaning that she used him.

I think indefinitely as he(Corey Taylor) has hinted towards it being about his wife Scarlett. He asked her to leave him because, he is completely different now then before. He's changed for the worse for her and he feels evil. Yet he wants her light to stay in his life because its helped so far on. But he asks her to leave him and stay away. To have no contact. Yet in the part of the song with the letters to the lips. He still misses her. He misses her so much. But knows that he cannot have her back because of the choices in between them at this point. That hes almost forced her to give and leave. That being one of the most admirable things because, its impossible to let the significant other leave because it will pain yourself. He asks her to leave for her own happiness and wellbeing. Sacrificing his own stability, and pain.

i feel as if snuff is the tale of a man trying to move and leave his partner but he feels he will hurt her more by leaving even if its the right thing

hope u will find this text. u said this song is so related of us.so i listened again and again and searched every history of this song. I still don't understand that one thing. in this song at least corey did his best not to let him down and at the same time although he tried ,his girl gave him up at the end. for us,we didn't even try anything the relatiopship of us.....without even starting any moment why would u run away? ? I swear I. never let u down.cuz u r love of my life andu r the reason of my smile. So don't run away from each other and pls don't leave me.U always said that it's for u but it's not for me If u really love me,pls don't leave me.

I believe that he loves her, but he was unable to stop a behavior that was controlling him. He is angry with her for giving up on him, but he also knows that she would be better off without him. They had a life together and he doesn't want to give that up. He's not complete shit; he invested in their relationship, too. He has a right to be angry; she gave up on him. That reinforces the self-doubt that ultimately led to his undesired behavior in the first place. Now, he's barely holding onto life itself. This is fucking tragic, but happens all the time. People want something better in life besides their loved one who made bad choices. They are "entitled" to that, aren't they? In today's society, you get an itch and fuck the person you're with. We're all out to get what we can to fulfill our dreams and most don't give 2 shits about moving on.

Man, this song hits me right in the feels. My wife of seven years just asked for a separation and man, this song gets it. The "If I can't change I hope I never know." Which means, Corey's then wife wanted him to change, but it's so hard to and he now has to push forward to create the best version of himself. "It took the death of hope to let you go." That part brings tears to my eyes. When you've been with a person so long and you don't know what a life would be like without them, you lose all hope. In the end, and I mean way in the end, you become a way better person because of it.

It seems to me it isn't about a woman but the loss of hope of there being something more, or something good, of God, of Jesus. I don't know exactly which one but to me it sounds like the fight he put up hoping we weren't just humans walking around for nothing or something that isn't what he thought.

Most definitely about his addictions sometimes its hard to change without support but in the end he realizes that his wife is not behind him but only hoping and wanting to believe that was legitimate love she had for him but in the end it helped him out for the better, this man is a genius songwriter and can reflect lifes struggles through it making everyone else feel his power hidden emotion sometimes it takes a life changing event to make you realize your own destiny and whats going to make you happy in life love is a power feeling but when someone tells you they love you and you actually believe this, this triggers either bad reactions or good reactions in corys case it helped him ,like he helped me get over my devastating break up with the love of my life who i thought i was going to spend the rest of my life with and his lyrics are so powerful its almost unreal how he brings you in to his soul with the song far none one my favorite artist of all time im so glad he created stone sour lets you see a different side of cory a more deeper emotion side softer than the slipknot music that was earlier recorded hes deff a winner thanks cory for writing snuff .......

This song carried me without a doubt through one of the worst break ups i have ever had. That helpless feeling of missing someone and then you slowly start to realize you are better off, become angry and realize "it took the death of hope to let you go" That to me is the most powerful lyric in the entire song. The absolute low you have to hit, to let that glimmer of hope die.

I think this song is about a relationship that's obvious, he loves a women but feels like hes not good enough, he just wants to support her but she keeps using him, he pushes her away, but then misses her; but then again pushes her away, soon realizing what shes done to him, and how shes made him depressed and angry he ends up leaving for good, yet still loves her.

This song is so powerful by the way he expresses his feelings towards her/him. I'm going through this situation as I'm typing this out and I've got to say He captures the way I'm feeling like he is here goj,g through it with me and if anyone's been through or goj,g through this then I hope you find your way out of this as quickly and with as less pain as you can.I loved this girl with my all and she always leaves me and I get the part of feeling being used because I feel so fucking used up right now. My love for her had turned to hate.Even with the hate I miss her and it's fucked up to be honest.I won't be broken again by her or love again.. Fuck that shit!!!! Love this song tho \m/

It's a song about getting out of the Darkness after being left alone.
The First Part, is the initial Darkness and not knowing what to do next. I myself know this sting, Being left suddenly and unable to do anything but sit by and watch it happen.
the Second part is trying to come to terms with what happened.
the last part where it picks up the Tone. "Break yourself against my stones and spit your pity in my soul" meaning i wont be broken by you again, no matter what you say or do.
    you Dont Deserve me.

In another lyric it says if I can't change I hope I never know I think it's saying that he wants to change but he can't figure out how another lyric says you sold me out to save urself she used him Okay one more lyric it say I still press ur letters to my lips he misses he alot but can't have her back

Its a theme album, therefor it must be about the end of the world or about our creators the alien gods. Its about God

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

This song is about how he tried, and gave, and sacrificed and then realized he was only being used. All his effort for nothing, he was, in the end, worthless to this woman.
