"Cool For Cats" is about an ordinary, working class, English bloke who TRIES to be a cool, suave, ladies man like the ones he sees on TV, but doesn't seem to know how.

In the beginning, he seems to be sitting home alone watching television. In the first verse, he's watching an old Western movie, while in the second, he's watching a true-crime show.

Eventually, he gets bored with the TV, and heads out to the pub, where he hopes to lucky and score with a girl... but he finds that it's not that easy and it's not much fun. He spends hours drinking and buying drinks for girls he hopes to sleep with, but the sex usually isn't that great or that memorable... and when it's over, he's not sure it was worth it.

He's left wondering why his own single life isn't as cool or as glamorous as swinging studs on TV shows make it look.
