The cocaine, or "snow" has blinded his mind to the reality of life. He is destroying his life, but doesn't want to believe it

"Snowblind Friend" is a song by the older group, Steppenwolf, that focuses on drug use and the difficulty for those close to a druggie. "He only had a dollar...But he spent it all on comfort on his mind" looks at the severity a drug problem can have on a person's life because it takes up all their money and the ability to sustain themselves. The chorus, "This mornin' when you last saw your good friend. Lyin' on the sidewalk with the misery on his brain", explains the hurt of both the drug victim and their friends. It also shows how some friends won't try to help because they don't know what to do, but just makes the whole problem worse.

"Someone should call his parents or a sister or a brother and they'll come and take hime back home on a bus" are lyrics in the second verse that give an idea that the druggie is still loved by his family and people care about him; however, he doesn't want to go home because "he'll always be a problem to his poor and puzzled mother". "He said he wanted heaven but prayin' was too slow... So he bought a one-way ticket on an airline made of snow" gives a better understanding of why this guy is a druggie. He wants to feel better, but he doesn't think he can do it without drugs (snow). "Snowblind Friend" is a song to help explain how it takes more than one person to kick a drug problem. Someone needs to be there for the drug victim, or there isn't going to be any success in solving the problem.
