   First of all, famous people only write songs about famous people. This is because the artist does not want a person who is known by hardly anyone to suddenly become an icon, exposing them to the fame and scrutiny that goes along with being famous. So the artist will somehow confirm to the person involved that the song is indeed about them (Stevie Nicks does this by way of dedicating "Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You" at a concert), then appoint a decoy person that they will then claim the song is written for. The decoy person knows the truth, the artist knows the truth and the person the song is written for knows the truth. However, that person's privacy will not be destroyed and he will continue to live a normal life thereafter. The decoy person for this song is Lindsey Buckingham. If you want a true and accurate interpretation, you will need to scrap the interpretations with Lindsey being used as a template and rebuild it from square one with the following line's translation:
   
   "I knew him another way I knew him another day"
   
   Way = waypoint = location = venue
   
   Translation: "I knew him at another venue I knew him another day."
   
   This should have rang a bell of who to use as a template and you should then be able to fill all the blanks in a general way. The only person who can give you a totally accurate translation is Ms. Nicks, and if I were to translate it, it would involve at one point going into one of the darkest moments of the history of Fleetwood Mac and would detail a particular concert on the Mask tour where the audience was so disappointed with Stevie's performance that roughly half of the people in the floor section simply got up and walked out the door. There is no information about this show on the net since it did not exist in 1990 and I don't care to unearth it. If Stevie wants to interpret the lyrics, it is fine with me.
