For What it's Worth Lyrics

For What It's Worth

I got to sing, I got to dance
I got to be a part of a great romance
Still forbidden, still outrageous
Only a few around us knew,
but no one said a word,
It was contagious

Looked out the window, we watched the cars...

I think she had a lesbian affair.

All of these lyrics point to that in my opninion: "left my girlfriend", "still forbidden", "still outrageous", "only a few around us knew, but no one said a word, it was contagious"

Could be Lindsey. Who could be more life saving than someone who really knew you and loved you before you ever were a mega famous rock superstar? And who could be more life saving than someone who you really knew and loved before he was ever a mega famous rock superstar? Someone who shared that same experience with you that nobody else could ever fully understand? Someone who will always share all that with you and will probably always have that love of you? Yea, could be Lindsey.

I think it's about Dallas Taylor he was the drummer in CSNY. He helped her when she was on Klonapin and although many think it's about Tom Petty truth is only Stevie knows and I don't think she will ever tell!

I obviously dont know her. But we have similarities. I wasted so many years on drugs that I missed my chance on being a husband and father. Now I look back, I had to go thru all of that to be the man I am. God saved my life. But Stevie wS such a good person so she had many people protecting her and keeping her safe. I think the song was about her male friend who helped get her off klonopin. He saved her life. Thank God. We all feel like we know her thru her transparent lyrics.

I always thought it was about Tom Petty . After she got out of rehab - he took her on a tour and they rode a bus . She was very close to him .

In one interview, she says it's about my friend the drummer, in another "it's not Mick Fleetwood, that leaves Don Henley.

"In For What It's Worth, Nicks sings about a "forbidden romance that saved my life". It's not about Mick Fleetwood, she says. Rather, it refers to someone who stood by her in 1995, before the release of Fleetwood Mac's live album The Dance and after her stint in rehab for Klonopin.

It was "not a good time... I was freaked out. In rehab, when you're leaving, the last thing they say to you is, 'Don't get married, don't sign contracts, don't buy a house, don't sell a house. Nothing heavy.' Because your judgment is impaired. You're a shell. And you need to go out there and find out who you are, not on tranquillisers.

"So you walk out into the world and you are a different person. And we were going on a tour and I was terrified. Terrified. And this person just sort of hung with me through that tour and buffered me from the world. And he did save my life."

Didn't anyone see the DVD? Personally, and I don't normally do this but it seemed that everybody missed it, it is about Dave Stewart. Watch the DVD. She even explains the "bus", she'd never done that before.

During an interview she explain that the song it's about regret , I guess looking back to all the madness during fleet wood a Mac years, the romance but it's about her best friend dying of leukemia and after she died, three months later she married her best friend husband. Which she thought it was her duty to take care of him and the children, Onviously that didn't last.
It's a beautiful song about love, regrets, turnmoil, disappointment but mostly about her regrets as she looks backs.

well as we who are Stevie Nicks fans all know she writes some awesome "deep" lyrics... i agree it would be so hard to know who it was... we may never know and can only assume... all names given played huge roles in her life... even joe walsh.. and many more... just hard to figure out but as i stated above all stevies lyrics are strange and leave you wondering .. shes one amazin' lady and i love her music and her song writing... guess unless she herself reveals it we keep guessing!! rock on Stevie with your "Wild Gypsy Heart"...(btw i love the song and the video...)

In my romantic heart, I like the thought that it is Mick Fleetwood. The whole 'you saved my life, I won't forget it' may refer to any of her men. I even like to think, just maybe it might be Lindsey Buckingham...I know, I know it's a bit corny to think that but, if she is never going to tell us who the guy is then anyone can read anything into her lyrics.

I mean, Lindsey did get Mick Fleetwood to take both Stevie and himself into Fleetwood Mac. Where would Stevie have been without this generosity?? Just putting the thought out there folks xx :)

Interesting to note that she sings that "if I left my girlfriend" so perhaps the romance was about two women, and in that way forbidden.

This song seems to be Ms. Nicks looking back on her life, a reflection of her singing, dancing, and her great romance. I wonder which one it is she refers to? The one that "saved" her? The lyrics imply it was forbidden and secret. Any idea who???
