Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man) Lyrics
You're a troubled young man I can tell
You've got it all in the palm of your hand
But your hand's wet with sweat and your head needs a rest
And you're fooling yourself if you don't believe...
-
I believe that the "Angry Young Man" is a very pessimistic person. He does have what it takes to be successful, but the way he thinks of the world and himself is stopping him. The narrator may represent someone close to him who knows how smart he is, and how well he could do for himself if he would just try. If you were to try to interpret the song nowadays The Angry Young Man might be able to represent the generation of teenagers who definitely have the potential for greatness, but never put themselves out there because they believe "It's not worth it."
