    I think its about how society is trying to make people 'perfect'? Like with the lines "Please, don't hide your imperfections" and "Tinkering with my design, twist and turn my feral mind play with me 'til you've found another toy" and that the 'Freak Show' is him showing off non-perfect people even though he isn't perfect himself.

    When he said ‘Please don’t hide your imperfections’ i think it means that the people that came to make fun of the so caller ‘freaks’ (the acts) shouldn’t always think that being perfect is the number 1 meaning of life.

    Well,to me I think that the song is supposed to be about what is happening in his life.When he says "Oh, what a fine collection of stranger things", I think what he means by that is that some people may have some abilities that other people don't. The line "You're wasting all Of your talent on an audience who sees a freak" I think he's trying to say that most people are a little bit freaky inside but they don't know about it yet.

    I think it is about embracing yourself, just like the song Mad Hatter "Come meet my monsters" Means those scary thoughts. "A sick creature like you should be put down" This is about those people who loves to judge you because you are different "Please don't hide your imperfectious nature" No one is perfect but people like hiding theirs and judge others "Let me be your freakshow, I could be your favorite monster" This part is one of my favorite part because this is me, instead of hiding who you truly are you are embracing it and even showing it to the public, not hiding it like other people

    In my opinion it’s about bdsm.... “welcome to our freak show” he’s like introducing the audience to the secret world where there are so called “monsters” like the dominants and sadists....the words he used like “to think you’re any different from an animal” is a word used a lot in bdsm, it’s a major expression and a turn in the community, “ please don’t hide your inperfections” another proof since bdsm is about being all vulnerable and open about anything.. and that is what makes a sub and the scene beautiful “ no i dont mind u are a beauty” “freak of friday night im the main attraction” the girl sings, and yes the center of attraction would be the sub “play with me till u’ve found another toy”....”twist and tame my feral mind”...and much more

    is it just me or dose this song liget sound like a sister location song , i mean if u think about it. "acrobat, show" -the circus + "freak, monsters, To think you're any different from an animal"-the animatronics = or the circus of the dead . and the song cradles, it sounds like he's depressed "It's hard to breathe but that's alright" he dose'nt care that hes dieing "Tape my eyes open to force reality" he dose'nt (cant or dose'nt want to, idk) see whats hapining "Breathe faster to waste oxygen" trying to die faster. sorry if things are spelt wrong , im typing fast.     (Let's go sequentially!!)
    The first line sounds more like a mocking of what other people would call a "freak show"- not what the ring master would call it. He considers them as things that are beautiful with abnormal imperfections. The only difference being that if you like phoenixes he would like something that I cant really explain without giving you nightmares or haunting thoughts yourself.

    These "monsters" could be signaling depression and the things it can do to your mind- you will consider things that are usually considered "scary" as synonymous with yourself at a deep level (true experience). Or otherwise that there are some kind of monsters that claw at your insides. In this case this is like depression that is embraced by the person. Monsters of different kinds, different abilities, different perceptions.

    "Don't waste your talent on an audience that sees a freak." Don't open yourself to people that tell you to open and then judge you, and see you as something that is better left alone. And by someTHING I mean it.


    "You're wasting all of your time finding a cure when there's no disease." Again feeling that feelings like these are incurable and permanent. Curb your feelings -monsters- so that it doesn't go wild and scare them.







    Summed up I just want to say that this kind of depression is a deep level and contains fear, anger

    I think it's just a creepy song that is made to be interpreted however people may like, the limit being imagination. It could be about depression ('my monsters' - depression) or cruelty to people's self esteem (calling imperfect people part of a 'freak show'). All anyone can say for sure is this song is incredible. I would recommend Cradles also by Sub Urban, I love that song as well. Hope everyone is alright x

    Sub Urban said it was about being Sexual frustration and clowns. so it was about sex and clown. He said in a interview with the girl he was singing with. I mean he said it was about sex and clowns soooo yeahhh. it a really good song and meakes me feel bad ass like i don't know it really reaches to my deeper disires. as sick as that sounds

    i think the song freak by sub urban is talking about a guy who owns a freakshow as he says "welcome to our freak show" and calling the people "monsters" and "stranger things" this song is actually talking about a really cruel and just horrible circus i watched a show called creeped out, it wasnt really creepy but there were two episodes where there was a freakshow and it was just really really sad to watch these people being laughed at just because there different.

    As a few other interpretations have pointed out, I think it’s about an actual thing called a Freak Show — basically a ‘circus’ where biological oddities are displayed to make money.

    Here, the lyrics ‘Welcome to our freak show, come meet my monsters’ suggests that here, a person considered as a ‘freak’ is created and marketed by the ‘ring master’. ( In the actual music video, Sub Urban is the possible ring master, meanwhile Rei Ami — the half-snake woman — is the marketed freak ).

    The second verse suggests that this ‘freak’ has been created by the ring master himself, who at a point of time refuses to get close to his monster, but a sick sort of love forms between the two of them. ( Rei Ami’s lines prove that the freak actually enjoys her imprisonment, or the way people gawk at her, and the way the ring master ‘plays with her’ ). To the ring master, the freak is a thing of beauty — and this reassures her to embrace her flaws.

    Sub Urban has himself commented on the song: “We live in a society”. This could point at how people in general are being exploited for reasons such as this. This might be a bit of a reach, but I think that it points a bit to Stockholm Syndrome as well.

    Personally, I think this song is based off an actual thing called the freakshow, as the freakshow was a cruel place. People who visited there, only came to laugh and make fun of other people who had special features on them, that people didn’t concern normal. The lyrical that gave of this immediately is literally at the beginning, “welcome to our freakshow” as it goes on, about the humans with the special features as the “Stranger things” or “monsters” and etc in the song.
