Supertramp: School Meaning
School Lyrics
Don't forget your books, you know you've got to learn the golden rule,
Teacher tells you stop your play and get on with your work
And be like Johnnie-too-good, well don't you know he never...

'School' is about how Roger sees school, and it is very similar to 'The Logical Song'. Both songs are about how Hodgson thinks school doesn't teach you what you need to know in life, "Throughout childhood we’re taught how to behave, yet we’re very rarely told anything about the deeper purpose of life. We go from the innocence and wonder of childhood to the confusion of adolescence, and that often ends up in disillusionment in adulthood," he says. 'School' is about how schools expect you to act a certain way, and, if you don't, you'll be cast aside. So if you want to do something your own way, its up to you. "It's always up to you if you wanna be that, wanna see that, wanna see it that way!" -'School'. School is meant to teach us to be independent.
