When explaining this song, Taylor said, "sometimes we bond our memories to the places where they happened."
This song is not about Cornelia Street, but about all the memories she made with a significant other while living there.
It's really beautifully as well as strategically written; she discusses the memories/flashbacks in the choruses, verse, and bridge in between the first and last verse. The first verse marks the very beginning of the relationship, when Cornelia Street is first introduced. Hence, "we were a fresh page, on the desk, filling in the blanks as we go."
The song ends with the same lyrics as are in the first verse, but they've since entered an entirely different context, now that she has provided the listener with one. Now that we know what happened on Cornelia Street, we've gained a new appreciation for the song.
Definitely one of the best on the album!
