Drops of Jupiter Lyrics

Now that she's back in the atmosphere

With drops of Jupiter in her hair, hey

She acts like summer and walks like rain

Reminds me that there's a time to change, hey

Since the return from her stay on the moon

She listens like spring...

    P. Monahan wrote this song for his mother. So it is not a love song, he wrote it for her after she passed away from cancer. So people stop saying that this is a typical love song about his first love and that she left him or stuff like that. The song is for his beloved mother.

Pat Monahan lead singer told how he dreamt the lyrics as he was also dreaming about his mother who had died. He got up in the middle of the night and wrote the rest of the song. So it is ultimately about the passing of his mother and questions he had.

To me, this song can have two different meanings. The first is a rather typical love story, while the other is borderline sarcastic. It seems to me like a song about a girl who cheated, and the guy asking "why?". Each "But tell me," line is directed at the girl, asking "was it worth it?" He proceeds to remind her of all the good times with the "can you imagine no..." stanzas. He then finally wraps up the song by asking if after all was said and done, did she realize being with the other man wasn't as good as her time spent with him. Thus asking if "heaven" was overrated. From the start of the song, the singer is implying she was eventually dumped by the man she cheated with as well. In the first stanza, he notices she's upset, even if she acts happy as usual. He throws some final venom into the last line saying: did you fall for someone who was bound to hurt you, and are you happy now that you're alone?

First off Drops of Jupiter is by Train.

It is a song about a love interest. Someone who was loved deeply and desired deeply by the writer.

"Did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there"

Lyric describing the thoughts going through heads. Did the girl end up missing someone who could have gave them all when she was looking for her identity.

I think this song is a bout a boy and a girl that are best friends, and then the girl suddenly stopped talking to him like she used to and now that she's back again, she's changed a lot like, a lot. and now he's thinking now that she's back maybe she had changed her mind or opinion about him and thinks he's just plain and boring. he loves her and she doesn't know it.

The song is inspired from the death of his mother... No interpretation needed that is the actual reason if you read the interview he did

For me this song is about two friends (or maybe about a relationship). They were best friends once, but then he began to suffer from depressions and she couldn't deal with that, because she didn't want to have to comfort him everytime they met, and she didn't understand his illness. So she went away and found new friends. But this friendship didn't last for long because it was just about partys and make-up and boys and how to be the coolest girl in town, and so she comes back to him, who has overcome his depressions in the meantime. But he's not sure if he wants her back, because he experienced how she left him in his bad times and so he thinks she maybe isn't a good friend for him anymore.

So, the song is like everyone else thinks, about a broken up relationship and the female goes soul searching, blah blah. But i just want to explain the line "Did Venus blow your mind?" in particular. People have interpreted this line to ask if the female simply enjoyed her journeys, but it's clearly more. "Venus" is used in more than one meaning here, as a planet and as the Roman goddess of sex, love, and beauty. Since the the couple has broken up, the man is dearly hoping she has found what she needed to find, so he's asking her if she has had sex and if it met her expectations. For all we know sex could have been an issue, one that could have attributed to the breaking up of the couple in the first place.

Every time i listen to this song I imagine it as the sad story of a man who loved a hurting girl who spent time with him, but never fell for him. He tried to get through to her and make her happy but couldn't. Sadly she ends up taking her own life thinking things will be better "on the other side". The song is her heartbroken suitor asking why, and if where she is is really better.
Love this song even though I always picture this scenario.

    RIP Gabby <3

i think it is either him singing about his best friend who is a girl just trying to make it in the big world as a star. she ditches him for the world of fame but in the end he finds out how in love he is with her, and when she fails he is there for her to fall on. the other meaning is him dealing with his mothers death. he asks his mom about heaven and thinks that she is up there waiting for him. this helps him get through the depression he went through.

This is my all time fav song. But it's all in how u interpret it. If u see it as a love song go ahead. I just see so many things u can do with it! I find comfort in it because my dad use to sing it to me when I was younger...

i agree with most of the interpretations. the best type of song is the one that has multiple meanings to it so this song is clearly remarkable. i think its about this girl who was friends with this guys, but she gives him a chance because he really likes her. they go out but then she decides that they were better friends. she leaves and tries to do some 'soul searching' as stated earlier. she experienced many events, trying to 'find' herself. she comes back and she realizes that she found herself the best when she was with him. hes afraid that he will be too boring for her considering shes experienced soo much more than him,. (note all the metaphors). this song is so amazing i sing it absentmindedly all the time. its my favourite song and i think the reason why is because im that girl whos trying to find herself while theres a 'friend' waiting for me, never really giving in, :) great song, Train, i love you guys!

You absolutely must post a uictpre of your pink hair! Oh, and happy nearly birthday! I've always been able to remember when you and Shannon celebrate yours becuase my mom's is the same day. :D I watched The Biggest Loser for the first time this last week and I cried. I felt like such an idiot, crying at a TV show that I had literally never seen before, but... it was just so heart warming. And, I think it hit a little too close to home for me. Trying to decide if I'm going to keep watching or not.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
