Catch is about a doll. The voice is that of an adult having a memory of a doll that he would play with on rare occasions as a child. Key phrases indicate the odd behavior of dolls like "roll your eyes right up to heaven and make like I just wasn't there", "she use to fall down a lot", and "she use to just stand there and smile". That's what dolls do! Now, the voice is comparing that memory to someone he's met that reminds him of that doll because she has that same perfect smile.

A girl from his past that he would daydream about
But she never gave him a shot
Always went for the popular crowd and got hurt a lot
And now that he's made it she wants to hook up
