    I also heard the same story about how when Robert Hunter was looking at his cat while on an acid trip (not the cat, Hunter) and the lyrics just flowed like a shower of pearls. “Look for a while at the china cat, Sunflower!” Sunflower was the hippie chick he was tripping with. The cat was a Siamese. Okay. Now I’m just making stuff up. I absolutely adore this nonsensical masterpiece!

    I read somewhere that Hunter wrote these lyrics while observing his pet cat during a lysergic trip.
