I think Marie is not me,(my name too) but Queen Marie of Scots. Besides being a contemporary of Lady Jane, Mary, Queen of Scots, actually went by and signed herself Marie, Queen of Scots. Marie Antonitte was 2 centuries later in the world.

Obvious reference to Henry VIII(8th) MC Prat par excellence who killed 3 of his 6 wives, traumatised the others all because of his bloody sexist obsession for a male heir. In historical fact his daughter Elizabeth was a far better monarch - ruled for 45 years and made a small island into a great land.
Marie was probably one of many desperate attempts to get the longed for son.

I feel that this excellent song is about the love of a woman that a man pledges himself despite the affections of other possible suitors or lovers. It is a heartfelt romantic song that kind of harks back to the days of knights and fair maidens. This is what makes great music so enjoyable as it takes you away....

The song is about a play performed in a local night club called "Shoot-Out at Sadie's Saloon"
Jane is the name of the woman who plays "Sadie" She has a couple of hundred Qs and is the leading lady of the show.
Marry Ann plays "Hazel Hoochehater" a temperance woman during prohibition days.
