Ruby Tuesday Lyrics

She would never say where she came from
Yesterday don’t matter if it’s gone
While the sun is bright
Or in the darkest night
No one knows
She comes and goes

Goodbye, ruby tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every...

This song is about how unconditionally he loved a woman
    (probably a groupie).

This woman (he probably didn't know her name>> Who could hang name on you?) was constantly moving and changing her mind but he would always love her.

It's also about not wasting time, and not giving up dreams.

The song reminds me of the positive human experience of feeling the renewed hope or promise that each new day brings and perhaps at the end of the day a momentary sense of loss. She is both beginning and the end.

So why Tuesday & why ruby? Etymolically Middle English Tuesdai, from Old English Twesdæg, Tiu's day : Twes, genitive of Tw, Tiu; see Tiu + dæg, day (translation of Latin dis Mrtis, Mars' day). The ruby red planet. Astrologically Mars represents spontaneous action, desire, ones personal identity and creativity & Mars represents the beginning and the end.

Juxtaposition parallels in the song both by the sexual significance of Mars the male sign planet and by the use of she in the song and by the harsh reality of that time day of mediocrity and by ones own dreams and desires of perfection.

Psh, I seriously just think it's about drugs. I'm probably not wrong, either.

This song is about a girl, and she had a dream where she slept with Jagger. Then she ends up meeting him, and they sleep together, and she realizes that he's not all she wants in life." don't catch your dreams before they drift away" and Jagger ended up liking this girl, but she ended up leaving because she wanted more in life. So Jagger is singing this song because she's gone, and he'll never see her again because he barely knew her. " she would never say were she came from" and yet he felt as if there could have been more than just sex between them
