Something Better Change is a two fingered gesture of defiance to those who were mocking the punk scene.
The song's reference to the music press' negative reaction to the pogo "don't you like the way that I dance, does it bug you?"
And punk fashions "Don't you like the cut of my clothes?".
It is, as I said, two fingers defiantly (and figuratively) held up to the rock media "stick my fingers right up your nose".
But above all the song's title and the lyrics make it clear, music and youth culture was changing in 1977, and there was no way anyone in the media could stop it: "Something's happening and its happening right now/ And you're too blind to see it".
