The Taste of Ink Lyrics

Is it worth it can you even hear me
Standing with your spotlight on me
Not enough to feed the hungry
I'm tired and I felt it for awhile now
In this sea of lonely
The taste of ink is getting old
It's four o' clock in the fucking...

ink has a very sour dirty taste some what similar 2 drugs.
he is talking to himself about whether his addiction is worth the success of his band.
he is using drugs in the form of a person to explain his message.
this is his story of his addictions, overcoming it and how easily it is 2 fall back into it, hence the last bit of the song.

I have heard this song several times, I do like it but also seems to have several meanings to me.....seems like the person is at there wits end and wants change. Same dreary life, days all seem the same! And the taste of ink is “blood”almost as though your life is slipping away! And the person wants to get free get out and as long as they know someone is there , they will be able to make it.....! And change there situation

I think the song alludes to letting go of a dead girlfriend, which in of itself, symbolizes the idea of moving on with your life. Moving on to something bigger. The narrator moving on with his life. Kind of a double meaning with getting signed with a label.

He's been trying to let go and move one, and now here he is.

I really love The Used, they have been my favorite band for awhile and I just want to say...
The part, "Is it worth It can you even hear me? Standing with your spotlight on me. Not enough to feed the hungry. I'm tired and I've felt t for awhile now"
Makes me think that he keeps writing songs and Nobody appreciates it? "is it worth It can you even hear me? And the next part, "standing with your spotlight on me" makes me think hes saying that about his fame? Not enough to feed the hungry sounds like he keeps writing songs and its not enough?... Idk that is how I take that part...
I love this song but It reminds me of when Bert broke his elbow :'(

The taste of ink refers to the frustrations of writing new songs and trying to become big. They're trying to get somewhere and are constantly trying where "It's four O Clock in the fuckin morning comes into place

    the song could mean anything.
to me i feel like its about being in a relationship that isgoing nowhere and the boy or girl is trying to be noticed by the love one so they leave and moe on and they find differnt ppl and "as long as your alive and care i promise i can take you there" means hes not leave his new love...
thats what i think it means...

Well, Bert explained that 'The Taste Of Ink' is their own story. They where prisoned in the city of Orem, with a mormon tradition, they wanted to free, but they hadn´t the methods.

The taste of ink term is about frustration, in the music video, Bert bites a pen and the ink pours in his mouth.

The song is about fighting for your dreams('So here I am, it's in my hands') and enjoying every moment in your life ('I´m saving every moment of this'). Of course, he won't forget the important people inspite of he has reached fame (Bert says that he hates being famous, that´s why he is such a special person, very humble and not preoccupied for appearances)

    Bert is such a genious!

I think that this song is about a young girl (how I imagine it) dying in the hospital, perhaps of self-inflicted wounds. I think that she was very badly hurt (the taste of ink=taste of blood). She is sick of living such a hopeless life, and is ready to die. I think that the last few verses (take your hand and pick you up etc.) are from someone elses point of view, about how they want to save her, physacly, mentally, emotionally.

"4 oclock in the fuckin morning, each day gets more and more like the last one, still I can see it coming"
trying so hard to achieve your goals, which to them was making it big, getting out of the shits. They faught through the sea of lonely, drowing in it, but still continuing. The taste of ink is writing music, the lifestyle. They did not have money to eat "not enough to feed the hungy"

I think it's about himself feeling stuck in his hometown doing nothing and feeling dead, and his climb to fame and "freedom" I think the person he's talking about being there for is his fans?.

But songs aren't just about the writer.
the song could just mean feeling stuck and wanting to move on which I think I can agree with lolx.
everybody wants to make something of themselves.

I think it's about him being frustrated because of his old home town because of his parents and the taste of ink is him biting down on a pen. also the part where he says "as long as you're alive, here I am, I promise I will take you there" that means his girl back at home after he leaves with his band still means a lot to him and no matter what he will take her "there".

This song, as I see it, is about The Used's breakout into fame. "The taste of ink", refers to the endless writing and trying to get somewhere " Is it worth it can you even hear me? standing with your spotlight on me, not enough to feed the hungry, I'm tired and I've felt it for a while now in the sea of lonely the taste of ink is getting old its four o'clock in the fucking morning, each day gets more ever the last day." This is about him writing so much, and getting tired of it (the ink). When saying In the sea of loneley, its his "sea of thoughts". The "promise I will take you there" is referring to the people that he left behind in Orem, Utah. Promising that he won't forget about them

I think it's about some guy who just escaped from jail and he is hiding in a river trying to keep the blood hounds from being able to pick up his scent or something...

It says "the taste of ink is getting old", so it can't be about being signed. It seems like it's about doing drugs- "Each day gets more and more like the last day." He's saying that even though he's "drowning in a river" he can see how good it could be to be clean and successful.
