Unbreakable Heart Lyrics

Hijacked when you weren't looking
Behind your back, people are talking
Using words to cut you down to size

You wanna fight back, its building inside you
Holding you up, taking you hostage
Yeah, that's worth fighting for

They'll try to...

I think it could have something to do with a relationship to be honest. Idea from the actual 'Heart' element of it. Idk, could just be because I just came out of a huge one when I started listening but not a clue. It seems like Adam is trying to protect this girl, who, by the looks of it, shattered him, from people in society inevitably hurting her. We can assume he loves her due to the use of 'You're the one' over and over (great reference there). He seems like he's trying to warn her that 'They'll try to take her pride, try to take her soul, try to take all the control'. It's like he's trying to tell her that she should stay strong and stay 'Unbreakable' because when 'Things fall apart' she is still perfect to him.

some parts are like the narrator warning the main character about the world and later taking pity and comforting them

I think that this song deals with either peer pressure or perhaps even a relationship issue. The way I see it, the narrator is hijacked by either a group of people or one person in particular - but is being held hostage. In my case, this applies more accurately to a relationship. The was relationship was constraining and it made me into something I'm not - and my friends laughed at me behind my back. I had to end the relationship because I lost sight of my identity and I'd lost control of my life: "They’ll try to take your pride, try to take your soul, they’ll try to take all the control." But these four lines are the part the hold the most meaning to me: "So when you’re feeling crazy,And things fall apart, Listen to your head, Remember who you are." I didn't have this song when I ended the relationship - it would've really helped - but it reminds me of the way I felt afterwords: relieved, yet also broken.
