   We have often heard the saying “sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me.” Sadly, this saying is not true. The words you speak can have a huge impact on others around you. The christian artist TobyMac explains this in one of his powerful songs “Speak Life”. He says that word have an impact, even though they may be small. This song encourages listeners to watch their language and know that their words have an impact.
   
   Words can have horrible and sad consequences. The words we speak to other people can make or break their day. Toby explains this in the first chorus of his song “Speak Life”. He sings, “Though it's crazy, amazing. We can turn a heart with the words we say. Mountains crumble with every syllable. Hope can live or die” saying that you can change someone's day or even life with the words you say to them. He also sings, “Well it's crazy to imagine, words from our lips as the arms of compassion, mountains crumble with every syllable. Hope can live or die.” This shows that even small kind word can comfort others when they are struggling or going through a hard time. In the same song he also says, “Look into the eyes of the brokenhearted; Watch them come alive as soon as you speak hope, You speak love, you speak… You speak Life.” This says that when you say or do something kind for a person in need it will make their day.
   
   Tobymac has impacted me in everyday life. Every morning I wake up to my alarm clock playing his songs and encouraging me at the start of my day. On the bus to school I listen to his upbeat albums that remind me to be kind and have compassion for everyone that I will come across during my day. After school I come home to Tobymac being played on the loudspeaker in my house. It is nice to hear encouraging songs and inspirational words throughout my day.
   
   TobyMac has been an influence to people everywhere, from his song “Love Broke Thru” which explains his personal experiences and how he got out of the hard times to his most upbeat song “Till the Day I Die”. His positive energy and how he shares the word of God makes him an impactful person. “Speak Life”, his most known song, has influenced the young and old listeners of the world and has changed the way I live my life day by day.
